Hmm, It doesn't surprise me.. I used to work in one of their catalogue call centres a few years ago.
Everyone who called up ordered the same thing, a donagal skirt and a reversible gilet - they were out of stock of these for the entire time I worked there (about 3 months), so we couldn't even tell people when the next delivery was because all of that delivery was allocated before it arrived.
It's a shame to see that they've not sorted it out yet, as they seem to have their food stores down to a fine art...0 -
same thing happened to me, i needed dresses for a wedding which were in the sale, could have got them instore but thought i dont want to end up with the hassle of returning it, turns out nothing arrived.
emailed them and complained and was given £10 off voucher online only0 -
I have had horrendous problems too...crazy from a supposed market leader...(!?) - I ordered the wife some nursing bras which were shown as in stock...after several annoyed phone calls and weeks later I got my money back as my child was nearly two months old and there was no need for the bras anymore - I complained to a manager who admitted the new website wasn't working well and stock levels were inaccurate and they gave me a £15 credit on my next order.... I used this and guess what - the items I ordered which showed as in stock turned up 4 weeks later...diabolical...I am still appalled now when I think of it but they've lost a customer forever...Tesco is my second home:j0

still waiting for promised gift vouchers to arrive here
(and yes was promised vouchers to use instore)
got to say M&S really do take the biscuit when it comes to trusting big brands online0 -
If you're placing online orders do lots of little ones, yu have more chance of getting what you want in a small order than in a large one. You can always add a more expensive non sale item to make the total up for free delivery then return it later.0

Did that in the last sale. Didn't make any differenceSee the stars they’re shining brightEverything’s alright tonight0 -
It gets even worse! I've received my credit card statement today and discover that the order for £172 which was completely out of stock has been charged on my credit card. How many other people get charged for deliveries which never happen and don't notice - I can see them making thousands, if not millions out of this?
I phoned them and was told a manager would call me within the hour, but that was many hours ago.
They couldn't even tell me that they had taken the payment when I phoned them earlier in the week to query my order - what kind of shabby, company is this? Until this week I thought they were a professional, customer-friendly company, but not any more.0 -
Well - I must be the luckiest person out.
I ordered some (seriously) reduced bedding on the 4th August, got an acknowledgement within a few minutes with an estimated delivery date of between the 7th and the 9th August - the delivery was made yesterday (the 8th) complete and correct and the right amount has been taken from my credit card.
Having got £76 of bedding for £13.40 delivered all I can say is - Thank you very much M&S0 -

I think I'll join you in risking my neck by saying I've had nothing but quick acknowledgements, always got the items I ordered in good time and all discounts were applied to my basket without any trouble.
I'm a bit shocked to learn of the negative experiences people have had here but in the interest of balance, I can only say I would definitely shop with them again - especially at those times when there is a bit pressure on to get loads of stuff at a good price - new school year for example.
I think if I'd had those bad experiences then I wouldn't rush however.0 -
Fingers crossed i can compete for the crown of luckiest person

I ordered quite a lot of stuff in the sale and had most of it delivered. My card was debited by£69. A few items were still outstanding but for some reason M&S credited my account 2 days later by £69 so effectively I have got my stuff for free!!
I feel very guilty
