Prize different to T&C's

Hi all,

I need a bit of advice. I received notification that I was a runner up in the Nick Jr Space Camp competition. The prize is awesome (iPad mini, kids space stuff) and I am over the moon. After doing a bit of a hunt for the T&C's, I realised that it also was supposed to include a Merlin Standard Annual Family Pass which I wasn't expecting as it wasn't mentioned on the letter. That part of the prize has just arrived but it is only for an individual Standard Annual Pass (i.e. for one person rather than a family).

The T&C's are quite clear:
Each of the two runners up will receive the following prize: An Ultimate Space Goody Bag
that includes a Merlin Standard Annual Family Pass:
12.1. The Merlin Standard Annual Family Pass is valid for twelve months and is for
four named people. These may be either: one adult and three children; two
adults and two children; or three adults and one child. Adults are aged 12 or
over. Merlin Entertainment Group’s standard terms of use apply to the card and
contains dates on which the passes may not be used at certain attractions.

12.2. The Ultimate Space Goody bag includes: iPad 3 mini (16GB with WiFi); space

camera (includes micro-USB cradle; three stickers; two rubber pads; one battery;
and quick start guide); and VTech Kidizoom Smart Watch (0.3 megapixel; able to
take photos (stores up to 900) and record video; 128MB internal memory; USB
connection; PC compatible)


I'm pretty new to comping and I don't want to sound like I'm being cheeky by going back to them to "complain" especially when the prize is AMAZING even without the Merlin pass.

Any advice from the comping pro's would be gratefully welcomed .....

Is there a contact number / email for the promoter?

Ask nicely, mention kids (if any) were looking forward to the family pass. They may have sent a single by mistake!

Thanks for getting back to me. It's a bit of a strange position to be in. I'm so grateful for the prize and it seems cheeky to be going back to them.

I'll drop the promoter an email and see what comes of it.

I would say to them exactly what you said here, that you're pleased and grateful, that you feel a bit cheeky asking, and you're definitely not complaining, but hope they don't mind you checking as you think they've made a teeny mistake with the prize. My guess is they will be so pleased to be dealing with someone reasonable that they will happily put it right - or at least explain.

Hi all,

I've finally had a result on this issue and I'm delighted to say that the promoter got back and have swapped the individual Merlin pass for a family pass.

It did take a LONG time and a few chaser emails but everything is sorted now. I'm over the moon.
