Solicitors fee's a rip-off ???

I've just completed my Mothers estate by selling her house. The Solicitors fees for a £190k sale ony was £475 which I thought was reasonable.
I asked my mortgage supplier for a redemption figure to get rid of it. For £54k the Solicitors fee is £616 and a redmption fee of £200.
Are these sort of fee's correct for a redemption. ??

I don't get what you mean?
Who has provided you with the £616 figure? Mortgage Co or Solicitor who sold your mothers estate?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. My solicitor charged £475 for the sale of my mothers house of her estate (deceased).
The £616 is the figure given by my Mortgage Lender for thier Solicitors costs in the Redemption Statement and also the Lender is charging a £200 redemption fee.
My meaning is why should my lenders Solicitors charge so much for so little (£54 mortgage) and my Solicitor charge so little for so much (£190k Estate).

if its solicitors fees in your red stat it usually means the lender has had to employ them to do work for them. Have you been in arrears or done a transfer of equity as this is normally when they get involved.
Sols fees will normally be charged direct with solicitor when selling your houseI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Everything is update with payments and no transfers or anything.
But whether they employed solicitors or not, it seems very high for what work they've done in relation to what they have to do in closing a mortgage, comparing to what is done with a sale of a property.
Is it worth me writing/phoning to complain or asking them why such high charges from their solicitors.

what I was trying to say and probably didnt do too well is that you pay a redemption fee to close down the mortgage with a lender.
If you are remortgaging then you will pay a solicitor separately or get one free through your next lender.
If you are selling then you need to employ your own solicitor and they will bill you separately.
Any referral to solicitors costs on a redemption figure is often for work already done whilst the account was live.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
