Why do the cra's have different info

Hi all, well six years have been and gone and I have just got credit files from experian and equifax one of them is all nice and updated no sign of bankruptcy and only current info shown however the other one although not showing the bankruptcy three of the included debts have a later default date so are still showing on my file and will obviously beadversley effecting my clean start. I will be writing to the lenders as advised in pinned post but y question is why would one be all up to date and the other not be surely the default dates would be the same on each file? I just want to make sure that do I contact the individual lenders or can I simply contact the cra with the bro and discharge paperwork...

    Hi Broadpaws,

It's good to hear that the bankruptcy is now off your report. The account information on credit reports is supplied by the lender, so we would certainly expect them to be sending the same information to all the credit reference agencies that they provide it to.

Any defaults that were included in your bankruptcy should have a default date, the same as or earlier than your bankruptcy. For those that aren't you can contact the credit reference agency who will then be able to contact the lender on your behalf. If you can provide a copy of your order of discharge this can be forwarded to the companies along with the query.

Our Ask James page deals with bankruptcy information coming off your report here.

I hope this helps for you to get this resolved as quickly as possible.
    Kind Regards
    Neil

Could be that some were only reported originally to one CRA and not the other.

Usually best to dispute via the CRA AND contact each lender to complain direct as well.

That covers all bases and may help you get it sorted quicker if lenders refuse to correct it at request of the CRA which does happen, and the CRA then refuses to help you any more, which also happens quite frequently.

If you go both ways that also demonstrates to the ICO and FOS that you've tried every avenue to get it sorted should you need to get them involved.

If you haven't written direst sometime the ICO and FOS will also refuse to help you until you have done so, which can add another 8 or more weeks to the process if you have to start that again from scratch.
