Was talking about this in another thread, but figured I'd mention it here.

There's a couple of features of Hotmail/Outlook which comes in handy for compers ... firstly, Aliases and secondly Filters.

Aliases

Aliases allow you to add multiple email addresses to the same account,
So if your main email was thisismyemail@hotmail.com, or @outlook.com
you can create a new alias, say thisismycompingemail@outlook.com which will create a new folder in your account (in the left where you get Junk / Deleted etc).
This basically gives you a new email address which you access through your main account, you can then use this to create a twitter account, or separate Facebook account ... or have a separate Rafflecopter account etc.

Filters
You can setup Filters to look for keywords in the email subject which will then do an action based on finding that keyword. In the same way there's a filter that will put any email with suspicious keywords into your junk folder.

I created a new Folder called "Win tag", On which I've set a filter to catch any email that has the keyword "Congratulations" or "winner", so any email that contains those words will be moved into that folder.
Can be quite handy to get a better filter (an extra line of defence) on winning email notifications (and not accidentally deleting them) (although I wouldn't know anything about that since I havn't won anything in ages)

Thank you. I too have filters set up for key words in the subject line, but in addition to this, before deleting my emails, I used to do a search for key words such as congratulations or winner in the text of the email. I have found however that over the last few weeks, when I try to search my emails for key words, hotmail crashes. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this.
