    For me it's the number of creditors that I go by and feel better as this reduces. Paying off a credit card then phoning them up to cancel it is the best feeling ever (no thanks, I do not wish to keep it for emergencies!)

    Although our debt id perfectly manageable I don't think I will feel truly comfortable until its at zero.
    Will feel better when its below 5k; but not as good as i'll feel when its zero

  • My debt was 10K at its highest in January 2014, I've got it down to 5K now. I think, as someone else said, when its down below £1000 I'll feel better but I don't think I'll feel 'comfortable' until I'm completely debt free - no loans, credit cards or overdrafts.

    I'll still have a student loan to pay off for some years to come, but as that is deducted straight out of my wages by HMRC, its more like a tax than a debt so I don't count it. And no mortgage.
    Starting 2016 debt-free :D
    Emergency Fund: £350/£1000
  • My debts are around £5000. Since my LBM I feel more comfortable in that because I am budgeting more carefully than I was, I know that my debt will fall by a steady £200 per month whilst building up an emergency fund and this has given me more peace of mind than I ever had before.

    I used to have 'lottery winner' type fantasies and imagine it would be the only way to get on top of my debts. These fantasies have now gone completely and I am happy knowing I am slowly but surely chipping away at the debt.
  • My comfort zone was always when I had acheived 50% less debt than at the point I added it up at any given time. When I added up owed £8000, I always thought I would feel comfortable at £4000. When I added up and owed £6000, I always thought it would be comfy at £3000 etc etc.

    I finally only owe £900 and have 6 payments until my loan ends, so think I'll only feel totally comfy when it is at zero and all my money is finally my own.
