Question for everyone - eggs in or out of the fridge?

I used to keep mine chilled until I started buying the big value boxes (we go thru at least 15 a week) and I can't say I've noticed them going off quicker on the shelf.

  • We have a small fridge at the moment and I need to go shopping!

    Lard
    Baking margarine
    Milk
    Mayonnaise
    Various pickles and sauces
    Dogs food
    Cheese
    Ground coffee
    Ham
    Bacon
    Cauliflower
    Carrots
    Juice
    Apples
    Broccoli (looking a bit sad)
    Mushrooms (ditto above)
    Pepperoni
    2 yoghurts

And a huge jar of home made strawberry jam that was a very lovely gift, except we have only got half way down it and it takes up half the fridge!

Eggs out of the fridge for me.

    Out.

I get mine from my egg man in work, but I always store food as sold.

I used to work for a supermarket in uni, and was told if you refrigerate them then you need to treat them as raw meat and never have them out of the cold for more than 20 minutes.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I keep mine out of the fridge. Goodness, there wouldn't be room  They come from our own hens (we have 2 :)). I write the dates they were laid on them and ensure the older ones get used first.
