I bought a halogen oven and I struggle to cook chips on it.
I place a tray of chips at the bottom and a tray above them on the stand.
The top ones cook too quick and the bottom ones too slow.
I find it is this way with most things I cook in it.
Am I missing something? Everyone raves about halogen ovens but I fail to see why.

You can get a chip basket for the halogen. I got mine from JML for about a fiver.

I don't have a "real" oven yet, just a halogen oven and one of those table top ones with 2 hot plates (which we don't use as they are too expensive on electricity!) i use my halogen a lot and do chips on the high rack on a pizza tray for about 35 mins at about 180 degrees and they come out perfect. Are you doing two trays at at time as I have found that that doesn't work very well? Now Mrs FrugalinShropshire:T Proud to be mortgage and debt free:j0

Try turning the temperature down. I found that I had to use trial and error when I first got my halogen oven. But if you use the temperature that you would in a fan oven (20 degrees less than a convection oven) you won't go far wrongBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I do mine in a dish on the bottom rack, with the extender ring in place. I parboil first for around ten to fifteen minutes, then coat them with oil, and turn them halfway through. I tried doing them on the top and they were too crisp.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
