'passed to senior underwriter' is this normal?

Hi, my mortgage advisor told me today that the Building Society received the valuation report back (valuation was done friday just gone) and that my case has been passed to a senior underwriter to carry out final checks, this should take 3 to 4 working days.
Advisor tells me this is a 'normal process' and although we are hoping for a final mortgage offer the lender reserves the right to ask for any further documentation (of course!).
Last week BS did ask for more documents, namely a credit card statement, a bank statement (from my 2nd current account) and a letter from my father regarding the monetary gift. I gave all these documents last week on wednesday.
Is all this normal?
should the next step be that I get the final mortgage offer by end of this week?
I gave them my whole life in documents so I do not think they can ask me for anymore honestly!

oh by the way: ACG, you asked me to inform you what has been the 'time-line' with Kent Reliance (that is the BS who is giving me mortgage btw, it is a shared ownership I am buying, a 50% share).
03/10 DIP
06/10 Full application submitted
17/10 Valuation
full offer ? 24/10 ?0 -
Nothing unusual at the moment and all applications will go through an underwriter (senior or otherwise) prior to issue of offer. And in terms of time lines all lenders are different.
Nothing to worry about at this stage.
