and secondly every time I read S&M ...well...erm....and then mayo???? ;)am I missing something?
Heavy discussion on moral compass! Am not sure what I feel personally but I have started to be convinced by this board that P&Fs are fine.
Apparently it is only the debt itself that is sold on (excluding the interest added over the years), and that I shouldn't feel bad. Am not at that stage yet, and will do what I can to pay everything off, but would obviously be very happy if they agreed to settle for less!
[FONT="]No....you're not missing anything NOAh.....it's the usual 'metaphorically grey,' dowdy Brogden here
Speaking of the 'extra-curricular subjects'.....you're one to talk :cool:You've set me off plenty of times.
Seriously now (though I know that's difficult :rotfl:!!) The moral compass..........I think I have said what I think. From what I know of you, I think you would consider this just as I have. Lots of people wouldn't give it a thought!! We know that many people go through life with their brains disengaged and simply 'grab.' Q. Why did you do it? A. Because I could. There is no thought given to the way it impacts another person or the general quality of life for members of the community. Individuals do it, governments do it and sadly corporations specialise in it
!!
If I borrowed a tenner from you and then tried to negotiate a P&F with you of 50%, our friendship would probably end. Is this different to negotiating a P&F with a corporation? I think it is completely different. You would have loaned the tenner because you wanted to help me and the least I should do would be to pay it back in full. The corporation loaned to me because it wanted to make a 'fat wedge' out of me .
I should not use the corporation for borrowing if I have no intention to pay back as at the end of the day the corporation has shareholders and employees BUT the meaning of the relationship is much different. As it happens my debt (as with us all) is the result of my mistakes. I got it all wrong but does that mean I should not now be assisted by a P&F?
Many corporations got it all wrong too with their hair brained and wreckless dealing and lending. The stories of HBI(o)S and RBoS are some of the saddest and most pathetic in British history. The fact that the wrecklesness of their esteemed leaders may even warrant criminal charges says it all.
Can we stop the roundabout? I want to get off! Will you accept a P&F please and I'll go away?
That's my rant over for the day. We have to think about ourselves, our lives and loved ones. It is they who should have our loyalty. Loyalty to a corporation can only be an activity of the deluded :rotfl:!!! That is not to say that we should not strive to play fair but we made mistakes. Let's give credit to the corporations and acknowledge that their agreement to a P&F may indicate that they are only 99% rotten :rotfl:!!!
Let's have a good day!
Brogden.

The continuing saga of Wuscot and Lower..........
I finally received a letter attached to an email from Wuscot. Maybe I was correct that moaning and badgering might pay off!!
This was a loan with HSPF (Home Shopping Personal Finance - yuk ) I took this loan after being declined and referred for an application with Sainsbug's. I had two Sainsbug's loans before this and behaved myself, paying them off before the end of the term. Both HSPF and Sainsbug's bank were the awful HBOS masquerading in different guises.
I was barking mad taking this......and for so much......my largest unsecured debt but I kidded myself it was for consolidation and I hadn't had much to splash around recently!! This was of course pre-LBM and it was a terrible thing right at the end of the 'old life' as I went out with a big bang
!! This one is a bit special to me
!! I have been absolutely dying to have this behind me.
I am going to leave the mayonnaise this time...............................
Balance £12,111.89 - settled this afternoon with a P&F (I should have been working) for £3,000.00 (24.8%)
Unfortunately this deal brought with it the bonus of an HBOS 'Reserve Account' which is a separate debt of around £2,000. I remember sitting in the car on a dusky cold evening after a business trip bringing the electricity bill up to date on that and still the LBM didn't happen. That is a job for another day.
It's fish for me tonight:)!! Weekend's here - have a great one everybody !!

I have spoken to SC they themselves have said the best thing to happen will be defaults followed by sale of debt to someone as the someone will usually settle for something like half of actual balance. Apparently it is only the debt itself that is sold on (excluding the interest added over the years), and that I shouldn't feel bad. Am not at that stage yet, and will do what I can to pay everything off, but would obviously be very happy if they agreed to settle for less!
Hi NOAh
I missed this bit first time around!!
It's not correct that.....when a debt is sold, it is sold with all of the accrued interest, late payment charges etc but would not accrue further interest. You then have no relationship with the kind, cuddly old bank
!!
Not a problem......slice away the interest and charges (and more) with the agreed final settlement offer.........simmer for 20 minutes and you're done

Yes, gone through a quarter - I didn't really see that. There will be a bit more in the next week and then a serious slowing down
