hr now saying pay increase they offered was wrong

I did some training and diversified the roles I could perform for my company after being given the details of what the assosiated pay increase would be.
However when I pointed out to the wage dept I had been underpaid it turns out that the figures hr quoted me are completely wrong. The new wage structure I am on is only marginally better than what I was on before the training and extra role
Is there anything I can do or do I just have to accept a mistake had been made, albeit a very bad mistake
I can't think of much wise than being promised a pay rise that doesn't materialise

Go back to your old role and do not accept the new conditions if not happy with the pay for those.
Did you sign any retention clauses
Did you not get the pay in writing0 -
Who paid for the training? But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Got the pay raise set out in an email and a contract but the contract was only a specimen and was not the one I would have had to sign0 -
