Help with cheaper travel for student in London

Hi my daughter is due to start uni in London in a few weeks, she is not moving to London but planning to commute from outside London (outside greater London too), she will be getting the train into London as necessary and then the tube to her uni, she is planning on applying for a 16-25 railcard, is there anything she can do to make tube travel cheaper? she doesn't appear to be eligible for a student oyster card as she doesn't have a London term time address, please correct me if I am wrong on this. Any help or advice is much appreciated, thanks.

Unless she doesn't have any classes until late morning she'll be unlikely to be able to use a railcard to get in to university. Has she looked at buying a season ticket?

If her university is in central London, could she get the train to a mainline terminus such as Waterloo or Victoria and then walk, take the bus or use a Boris Bike instead of the tube?

You can get discounts on off peak travel on the tube with a student rail card either buying a day travel card or linking your rail card to an oyster card. I cannot post a link but if you post the question in Google it will take you to Questions and Answers on the 16-25 railcard web site.
