Picking Up Floorcash at Work - Maximum Keepable?

I picked up a £2 from the floor at the top of an oft-used staircase at work on Wednesday, popped it into my back pocket, and continued on my way to meet with one of our directors about something. My initial intention was to pass it along to the director for her to sort out, but it slipped my mind until just now. It's still in my back pocket. (Yes, I'm wearing the same trousers
I'm married, I don't care!)
I'm now tempted to keep it. :xmassign: But should I?
Street floorcash is OK, I'm sure (£6.20 so far this year! Best yet!), but at work what's the maximum cash find you think could be kept?
(No members of the public in my place of work - it would have to be an employee's £2)

At Work, How Much Found Cash Would You Keep? 33 votes
I'd turn any cash over - even 2p.

Up to 50p is finders keepers, but £1+ gets turned in.

Up to £2 is fine, but notes are not.

Sure, I'd keep up to a tenner, but £20+ would be handed in.

It would depend on the workplace.
I work in retail so even keeping 1p is out of the question. If it's a smallish office I would ask around if anyone lost it, for a bigger company I'd probably keep anything up to a £20 note but would give it back if anyone said they'd lost it.
Then again I found a £10 note on the floor at a supermarket checkout a few months ago and handed it over instead of keeping it, it's not mine to start with so I'm not going to miss it.0 -
At work its generally been dropped while staff are helping people we support with their money, so we wouldn't keep any of it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
None. Apart from the moral side of it - and the potential for it being a specific breach of the company handbook .... it could be a "trick" with a hidden camera.0

In my last job in a electrical store I found 5 pounds on the floor.
I was told I could keep it but would not. Handed it in.
i did not want grownds for stealing anything. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
If you weren't bothered by the possibility of keeping it being the wrong thing to do, you wouldn't have posted this.
If you hand it in, you'll know you did the right thing. £2 or £10, the principle is the same, it's only the degree of temptation that changes.
One of your colleagues is £2 out of pocket, and probably knows they are.Better is good enough.0 -
Hmmm... so you're all saying I should spend it on two lottery tickets, and then turn in £2 if I win?
Well, I'm only doing it because you're ALL saying it.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?

Well not so long ago I worked in a nightclub, cleaning, and the rule was you found it you kept it. Found plenty of money but the work was back breaking. I think it was over 6 floors each with a dancefloor full if broken glass. You had to pick the money out from it. And mop the floor obviously.
The toilets were beyond disgusting, but again found loads of money, brollies, jewellery etc.
I found enough money to pay all my bus fares and lunches each week.
A wallet/purse would have been handed in mind., but the trousers, shoes  underwear etc got thrown out.63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
Its a horrible feeling loosing any money so I dont think its fair keeping it. If I find under 50p on the floor I usually pick it up and put it on a nearby surface. I found £2 yesterday on a seat, obviously out of someones pocket, I gave it into reception. I was waiting on a train the other day, a lady with a case ran by dropping a huge wad of notes, I ran after her to give her them Have also handed in wallets found in public.
On the street I might keep up to £2 though as your unlikely to find out who lost it.0
