Cheers just ordered some of the candles to put aside for Christmas."A smile takes but a moment...
...but the memory of it lasts forever"0 -
Can I just say (as a bit of a home candle maker) that if you're buying these for Christmas, it's unlikely that much of the fragrance will remain by then. All candle fragrances have a limited shelf life ~ and bearing in mind that these have been hanging around for at least five months, I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting any kind of decent scent throw from them.Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us0 -

I had a conversation about this with one of the commercial makers when I saw that my local supermarket was selling scented candles manufactured over a year ago. The response was that commercially made candles 'should keep their fragrance for at least 18-24 months unless stored in direct sunlight'.
In practice I've found this to be the case, although I'm sure some of the cheaper ones have a rather shorter 'scent' life!0 -
Iv had candles bought for me last xmas and we have recently lit them and they smell gorgeous still. I thought they would lose their scent but not in this case. Good offer this!0

Just out of interest, what have others found to be the best, long lasting scents that linger (not overpowering) around the home ?
I have recently converted to reed diffusers as my OH suffers with candles
The reed diffusers I like/use after many trials and errors that work for me are Stoneglow, Next, Yankee. I have found that the supermarket ones are just poor and cheap and don't really work.
Does anyone have an opinion on what brands are best for quality candles apart from Jo Malone, Diptique et al that I need a bank loan for !!0 -

I've found that candles in tins keep their scent well, and also if they are wrapped in cello, while those without any packaging do tend to fade. It does vary a lot from brand to brand though, even when burning a freshly purchased one...0 -

I would try an independent candle maker. I don't make them any more (so I'm not trying to 'sell my wares' surreptitiously!) but there are plenty who do and who have their own websites. Independent candle makers generally use excellent products (try soy wax candles for a longer burn and a stronger scent throw, with fewer ecological implications) and create candles according to the season, and its consequent demand.
You could always try making some yourself! They are the easiest thing in the world to create, and with EBay sellers offering upwards of a hundred fragrances to add to your wax, it's one of THE most satisfying things to do! It also works out to be a cheaper option, and takes about 15 minutes to whip up a batch.Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

Does anyone know if they are available in store or is it just an online offer?0
