I started on the 31st March, i have been working my way through the board since.
A week later i won a mystery prize on Facebook, it was despatched on Friday, so still not sure what it is yet
The next day i won a hairspray with a case
I have entered about 2000 comps since the 31st big and small, on facebook, twitter, email, online. I do plan to extend this to ones with more effort and postal onCe i get my head around everything else lol.
My method is to enter and forget. Also, i will enter any competition that i deem useful to myself, my partner and both our families. So that includes many small items from a nail varnish to a moisturiser and food stuffs, cleaning products, small home accessories, a book etc etc.
To me this is like window shopping without money. You go round the shops not with the intention to buy right there and have immediately, but to go around and look at all the nice things you would like to have and picture how they would look in your home, what use they would be or the look on your family members face if you were to give it to them as a small gift. I then forget about it and move onto the next shop. This is how i deal with all the competitions.
Any wins on top of the above is an added bonus.
Obviously i never decided to enter all of these competitions without the hope of winning, but i have found i really enjoy the window shopping aspect and this is why i will continue. I also try and keep the possibility of winning as a nice fantasy or dream rather than a given or a must. If you expect to win after entering a certain amount of comps i think you would get pretty fed up very quickly.
A week ago i stumbled across all the mag dailies, click wins, instant wins etc. I now set aside a certain amount of time daily to get these completed. I'm still unsure of whether i want to continue these as religiously, as i do find them incredibly repetitive but i will soldier on for now.
Keep at it, enjoy it and fngers crossed
Oh and as JessicAhh has mentioned, make use of a auto form filler like roboform. This makes life sooo much easier0 -
I dont count but i do as many as possible. Perhaps hitting 250 with twitter comps.
Just also wondered if you have to enter mag dailies every single day to be properly entered?
Is this the same with Rafflecoppter?0 -

You don't need to enter either every single day, but the more you enter, the better your chance of winning. People have won with just one entry.0 -
I'm in my third burst of comping. The first time I entered a lot of competitions for about 3 months and I won a 32" LCD TV, Playstation 3 and a BluRay about Charles Darwin, all on a single win! The second time I comped I did it for about 2 months and won absolutely nothing! I'm now approaching 2 months this time around and to date have won nothing! Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. I just take a lot of enjoyment out of the thought I could win big one day :-)0

I don't think the Koalas are ugly. I was actually very surprised with how soft they are for a freebie. Plus my 7mth old niece loves it and it washes well.
The worst was that horrid Wolfred dog. Terrible quality fur.Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!0 -
Elanamorgan! Buck up and recite the following mantra daily!
Trust me...what have you got to lose???
EAT, SLEEP, WIN, REPEAT!
Sure fire guarantee to success
Lots of luck to you xx"The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming"0 -

If you're doing a lot of Twitter comps, one thing I will say is that it's pretty rare to win on them. I've only won a few things on there - and only one thing for a RT (rather than a comment / photo etc).
As someone else said, look for effort competitions - Photos; designs; Pinterest; slogans and captions; writing etc. These are always better for standing a chance at winning.
If there are particular niche areas you're interested in - e.g. fish keeping, or fencing, or jujitsu, whatever - make sure you sign up to relevant FB pages for magazines / retail companies that are connected with those, as niche comps don't always make it onto MSE. (Except many of the equestrian / fishing ones).
If you do a particular job, look for comps in trade or your company magazines / newsletters. They will always attract less entries: especially those where you have to be a member of a certain company or guild to be able to enter.
Check out the postal comps thread from time to time, and look for comps that are postal / phone only, and if you like the sound of them, enter by post. They tend to have less entries because they require either effort (walk to postbox, search for stamps, etc) or are expensive (premium phone and text lines).
Enter the Take a Break / Pick Me Up / That's Life / Take a Break Puzzles Magazines / Puzzler Magazines / Real People comps - they're quick and easy to do, and most magazines have multiple comps, so you stand a reasonable chance of winning something eventually.
If you ever feel like you just want to "win" something... anything!... head over to the Freebies boards on here. I've got things like fruit squash, toothpaste, etc, for doing nothing more than filling out an online form. And yes, they're not really wins, but still nice to receive something in the post0 -
How many is that, though?
For a lot of us, that is 300+ comps a day - the more you enter, the more likely you are to win.
I'm not sure, but... you should be on the electoral roll anyway, as it is one of the things credit checks pick up on. Elsewhere on the boards, you can read lots about people refused credit for not being on the roll.
I've won with the mag dailies and I'm not on the electoral roll. As a foreign national, not from a commonwealth country, I can't vote and cannot be on the electoral roll.
I've had no problems with credit, though I assume there may be an understanding that, not being British, I'm not on the rolls.0 -

Thanks for that info, jeddentad - had never realised that; just presumed there was some other form of roll that nationals were signed onto instead.
I suspect you're right about credit - I expect that foreign nationals' credit records are somehow marked so that creditors know that there's a valid reason for no electoral roll records.
Back to you, Elana... Even if you are allowed to be on the roll, the mag wouldn't be able to check your electoral roll status, if you choose not to be on the published register (you can withhold your name from that, so that it only appears on official files, like credit records, which I can't imagine a magazine would search for their prize winners).0
