    Thanked everyone, great help!

My reasons were that whilst I have some time between jobs and moving back home I wanted to start from the bottom i.e GCSE's that give me something. My jobs have given me experience but nothing in terms of qualifications.

Have a plan in place tho as yes it might sound good to "start from the bottom" but not many well paying jobs ask for only GCSEs they will be more interested in higher education such as degrees, and as said a Uni will likely take you without them as they normally want A levels anyway but accept mature students on the courses as they have "life experience" and are more mature so are likely to make up for any missing GCSE/A levels.

As said have an aim in mind, no point doing a year on GCSEs if you could get a year ahead on a degree course etc

Good point, once I found some info on the GCSE course I'd look further into it as I had no idea of the duration, I'm competent in my English and Maths so wasn't sure I could do them relatively fast (my lack of research is showing).

If Uni is my path then I'll give them a miss.

    Wonderful advice everyone!
