Elections - Poll Clerk / Postal Vote Opening

Options
Hi all,

It's almost that time of the year again.

If anyone is interested, contact your local authority and ask if they are looking for people to work at the elections. I've just had my letter through the post asking for my availability.

I started working as a poll clerk 9 years ago and have done it every single year since. It's a long day to work but I think it's well worth it. Postal vote opening is OK too but can be a bit tedious.

The pay is quite good for the poll clerk position, it's about £150 before tax. With the local authority I work for, we get paid from our normal place of work for that day and again from the elections office, so it's a double pay day!

  • If you've done 9 years of Polling Clerk it's work asking for any vacancies as a Presiding Officer. They pay's quite a lot better for not a lot of extra work (collecting and returning the ballot boxes)
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
