Thank you Toomuchdebt for your kind words
I think life is about choices and priorities. Just like you, before I met my partner, I made conscious decision to be on my own. This decision allowed me time to 'work' on myself, take care of my home and children and build my career. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made since, without the distraction of a relationship, I had to deal with a lot of unresolved issues. The main one was my own co-dependency; seeking validation and self-worth from someone else. Apart from doing my 'work' , I've had a lot of fun during my single years, and developed new hobbies and interests which lead to my current PhD studies.
All that remains now, is my debts. But with the strength and knowledge, I have acquired during my single years, I have no doubt, I will get there!
I am a strong believer in that, like attracts like, thus I had to become a healthy person first, in order to attract a healthy man ( following my divorce, I was done with dysfunctional people who reflected back my own dysfunction.)
I truly wish you the best of luck in navigating the often fun, but challenging waters of single life.

Wow, a pound! Well done you!
Sadly I've not ( as yet) found my hair dye in Poundland, but at £5.99 per box, it's still a bargain
Also, my lovely daughter does it for me as I struggle with the back of my head and end up sporting patchy hair!
Have a lovely afternoon

Good afternoon Indout96.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I shall continue on with my debt free journey, and if by doing so, I help to inspire others, I will be happy and humbled.
Wishing you a wonderful afternoon

Thank you for the info. forgetthat. I will definitely check them out

I am lucky in that, my e-mail account has very good filters in place and I rarely get spam in my inbox. However, yesterday, out of the blue, I got this:
"If you are approved for a Vanquis Visa Card, you could soon find yourself striding through your home town this winter secure in the knowledge that, if there's something you need or something you want, you've got your Vanquis Bank Visa card safely tucked away."
And...
" Vanquis have already helped over 2 million people get the credit they deserve. Join them!"
Credit they deserve??? Bank of Vanquis??? Striding through your home town safe in the knowledge??? Words fail me...
Oh yes, forgot to add... at the bottom of this gaudy e-mail there's a disclaimer: " Representative 39.9 % APR ( variable.)
I must admit that, initially I got annoyed, but then I thought, " If there's one, there must me more." So, I went into my spam box...
I wasn't disappointed!
Luma Card: " We've Said Yes to Over 100.000 People! You Could Be Accepted Too! At Luma we've tried to create a card that's a bit more friendly. That means that we spend our time looking for reasons to say "Yes"!
35.9% APR. Not that 'friendly' after all!
Hmmm, haven't they got anything better to look for ???
But the one that really got me was the Black Diamond Card which has, ready for this...? Representative APR of 59.9% ( variable.) As a redeeming
feature they offer "Easy, accessible SMS and online money management."

Come to think of it, robberies happen a lot more than we think! The technical term for them is credit cards, or any other form of lending for that matter! Interestingly, the time taken to pay off a credit card is generally much longer than the prison term for robbery, without the added bonus of free board and lodging!Everything in my life is a reflection of who I am-as within, so without.0

Gosh, cannot believe it, its weekend already! Where did the time go?
I don't know whether it's just my perception, but since embarking on the DFW journey, time seem to pass at a greater speed (I suspect much of it is to do with doing things differently.) Although today is exactly a month, since I decided to tackle my debts, it feels much, much longer!
Apart from my earlier spending, which was necessary, I've kept my purse firmly closed. This was especially difficult since( unusually) this week, I've received three social invites: retirement meal, night out with my sister and leaving party at work. I've declined them all.
I am fully aware that socialising is important to a lot of people but, as I'm an introvert, I can happily not do it. Besides, I don't have any free money to spend ( I'm still in debt.)
This week I've managed to reduce the cost of diesel by £5! Instead of paying £40 per week, (due to mindful driving) I've managed on £35! I'm happy with this, but hoping to reduce it even further to £30. I love a challenge!!
I must catch up on my studies this weekend which means, I won't be going anywhere. Yet again, because of my introverted tendencies, solitude doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I find it very restorative
Right, I better get on...
I wish you all a wonderful evening

Oh yes, forgot to share my shopping list system...
As I've mentioned earlier, creating and sticking to my shopping list really helps with a) keeping me on the straight and narrow and b) prevents me from forgetting things thus no mid-week shopping trips ( those are lethal !)
Back to my 'system'...
Each time I run-out of something, I add it to my list, which sits in my kitchen. Even if I run-out of something important, I become creative with my meals and make myself wait until my next planned shopping trip.
Most probably this is nothing revolutionary, but to a DFW novice like myself, it really helps with keeping me on top of my spending
