:money:Well done on the council flat and new job, glad things are all working out. Did you sign a fixed term contract on the current flat as I think I read you recently moved in July to a cheaper flat? Just thinking out loud as its usually very difficult to get out of a fixed term tenancy.
Thanks for your post AleMrsT. Yes, moved flats at the start of July. Hmm I'm not actually sure what type of tenancy it is, the lease is for 6 months, don't know if that means it is fixed term. I'll dig out the paperwork tomorrow and have a look.
So yesterday I spent £37.25 on tea and drinks out with the girls, I also spent £7.03 on a wee topup shop. I was planning to go and get a card and present for my friends birthday today but didn't quite get round to it so today ended up being a NSDDebt Dec 2022 - £2972.68. Current debt - £0 (100% paid). Yes it's usually minimum of 6 months fixed term, which means you are liable for the rent payments until the end of the fixed term, unless you've got an extremely nice landlord who is happy to release you early, but they're not obliged to. What did the council advise you when you took on the council flat? Not sure if things differ slightly in Scotland (you are in Scotland aren't you?), it might be worth getting some advice as you need to be careful that you're not ending up stuck with two lots of rent to pay.0

Had a look at the paperwork yesterday and it is a fixed term contract until the end of December. Will chat to the landlord this week and see if there is any way we can get out of the rest of the lease. Worst case scenario the rent for both flats is only £50 more than we were paying for our old flat so it's not unaffordable just annoying.
I'm now not seeing my friend who's birthday it was yesterday for a couple of weeks so will put off getting her present until nearer the time. Got the 1st electricity bill in for the flat we are currently in and it's £64.28 so will pay that today. Also really need to do a proper shop at some point as don't have much in the fridge.Debt Dec 2022 - £2972.68. Current debt - £0 (100% paid). Flat deposit - £10802.94/£15000 (72% saved). Electricity bill has been paid and I also spent £8.73 on toiletries and £1 on milk. I've decided I'm going to do an online shop and get it delivered as I'm going to be struggling to find time to go this week.
Monthly payslip is through so will need to start thinking about my budget.Debt Dec 2022 - £2972.68. Current debt - £0 (100% paid). Flat deposit - £10802.94/£15000 (72% saved). Emergency fund - £1550.15/£2000 (77.5% saved).0 -

All good here monz
Did an online shop which was delivered yesterday and spent £58.31 which is way more than usual, however, I decided to take advantage of the fact that someone else would be carrying the shopping up the stairs and did a big stock up of toilet rolls, washing tabs, tins, etc so shouldn't have to buy for a while.
I've now only got around £17 to last me until payday which is 6 days away. Should be doable - all direct debits have been paid and I definitely won't need to buy any food apart from milk and possibly bread.
Currently on my way to do an overtime shift at work, really could have done with the day off but the extra pennies will be usefulDebt Dec 2022 - £2972.68. Current debt - £0 (100% paid). Flat deposit - £10802.94/£15000 (72% saved). Emergency fund - £1550.15/£2000 (77.5% saved).0 -

£2.50 spent yesterday on cheese. Spent a lovely evening round at a friend's having a good catch up. Today should be a NSD.
Off work this weekend other than a short shift for 2nd job on Sunday morning so me and OH are planning to buy paint, curtain poles, etc to make a start on decorating the new flat.
I've not quite finished doing my budget for next month yet but should hopefully be able to put at least £300 towards stuff for the new flat.

Love it! I think if anyone can move to a new place, kit it out with furniture and everything and NOT add to their debt, then that person would be you.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
