On a late shift today so went to the gym this morning, took a couple of bags to the charity shop and did a wee tidy up of the flat.
It's been a NSD today, will definitely need to go to the shop tomorrow though as we've run out of fruit and are nearly out of milk.

Sorry, been a busy few days, didn't realise I hadn't posted for almost a week.
So the big news is that we've finally been allocated a flat through the council after years of being on the waiting list. Went to see it yesterday and it's lovely, ground floor flat, own front door and a wee patch of garden
Unfortunately it means that the debt will increase as we have no savings to use to furnish the new flat. I have applied and been accepted for a credit card so will use that once it arrives. We do have some furniture, kitchen items, etc that we can take and we have agreed we will look round 2nd hand/charity shops for everything else we need in order to keep costs down.
The new flat is even less rent than we are in this flat so should be able to pay back the debt quickly.
In other news I will be moving jobs again soon, still within the same organisation but to a new service which I'm looking forward to.

Brilliant news about the flat misstara! :j:j
Have you heard of the website freecycle? There are loads of people giving away furniture, white goods and stuff like that for the cost of you picking it up.
I wonder if you could challenge yourself NOT to increase your debt for the move?
Either way, you are in a much stronger position than you would have been if you hadn't paid any of it off. You're our inspiration. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Woo-hoo on the flat! :j I definitely recommend you look for secondhand furniture on freecycle and local fb buying and selling groups — I see loads of nice stuff, some of it hardly used and most of it not worn much at all. You can gradually replace it with new if you can't find stuff which suits your requirements. Also ask around family and friends, because loads of people have furniture they're not using, don't want to throw away and can't be bothered to sell. Or they might be planning to replace their furniture soon and could give you the old (my friend got a really nice sofa and armchairs from her parents this way!).Rainy day fund — 210/1000 Emergency fund — 1019/1500

Thanks for your posts monz, ani and ABA
We pick up the keys tomorrow so it is all very exciting!
ani - it would be fab if the debt didn't go up at all, however, unfortunately think it's unlikely! I will challenge myself to keep the extra debt as low as possible though.
Thanks for the suggestions of freecycle and fb selling groups ani and ABA. We will certainly look into those.
So today I have spent £7 on lunch out with a former colleague while on training, a bit naughty as I am planning a meal out with the girls tomorrow as well but it was good to catch up.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Well done on the council flat and new job, glad things are all working out. Did you sign a fixed term contract on the current flat as I think I read you recently moved in July to a cheaper flat? Just thinking out loud as its usually very difficult to get out of a fixed term tenancy.0
