What's tesco's policy on refunding a CD?

Bought a CD yesterday for my son - however mistakenly bought the wrong band's CD!
Will Tesco's refund it - I have receipt but these days CDs aren't cellophane wrapped?
Appreciate it if anyone knows.
Thanks

They are very strict on their media returns and I haven't heard of anyone successfully exchanging a CD, however, it never hurts to try.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I thought you were ok to take CDs, DVDs and games back as long as it was within 28 days and you had the receipt. I have taken games and DVDs back when either I've bought the wrong one or the person I've bought it for has changed their mind and they haven't always been 'shrink wrapped'
The last time I've done this was probably just after Christmas so unless they've changed their refund policy you should be fine to.
If you just wanted to exchange it, surely there would'nt be a problem?0 -
AFAIK the no exchange policy has apploed fo ra long while on media that can be copied. Otherwise all that would happen is that less than honest people would watch or listen, and even copy items and just return them, meaning that the next unsuspecting buyer basically got a second hand copy.
The regs around exchanging this type of item is usually found somewhere on the wall around the electrical department help or sales desk. As usual though this does not affect any consumer rights about refunds for faulty or damaged goods.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I know this is Tesco Direct but it is broadly similar to that shown in store:
http://direct.tesco.com/help/directtermsandconditions.aspx
.1 Non-faulty items
Please let us know if you wish to return an item within 28 days of receipt by following the instructions on the back of the invoice. Only some items can be returned to a Tesco store so please do check.
Please note that your right to return an item does not apply to certain items unless the item has a manufacturing fault (in which case see section 8.2 below). Such items include:- CDs, DVDs, videos and computer software, which may be restricted to an exchange for the same title due to the problem of unlicensed copying;

as ex tesco customer service...
basic answer to your question is no..
and if you say its faulty, they will exchange for the same title with proof of purchase0 -
Thank you all for your help. I guess I should have checked properly before buying it!0

kittykat500...why not sell it on eBay or Amazon? You probably won't get the full price you paid for it (unless it was mega cheap in a Tesco sale
) but at least you'll get back some of the money you paid for it.
Either that or stick it on repeat until your son likes it? :whistle:DFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0 -
Tesco only refund faulty ones0

There's no harm in trying to ask customer services to change it for the correct CD. The worst that can happen is that they say no. My Tesco did it for me when I bought the wrong compilation CD for my kids. They did say that it wasn't usual but that in this instance they would make an exception.0
