toast, butter, marmite, beans grated cheese. :)

can substitute beans for tinned tomatoes.

my grandad used to heat tinned tomatoes in a saucepan and add cheese & heat until melted. That mix is fab on toast.

    And in sandwiches :o

    and by itself :o

nightmare to clean the cheesy saucepan though!
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

I love Gentleman's Relish (patum peperium), the anchovy paste that comes in little white pots and lasts forever. Spread toast with butter first then thinly with relish.

Instead of of a slice of toast, use sections of baguettes sliced lengthways or long rolls.
A favourite here in Spain is using tomato 'frito' as a base on the toast (no butter) then adding, cheese, tuna, bacon, ham etc.
For the 'frito' I chop a tomato and microwave for a few seconds so I can get the skin off easily , ten mash the pulp a bit more. The tomatoes here are quite 'meaty' but if you have too much juice pour that off and add to gravy etc
If you have just the tomato on the toasted baguette just add a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper, delicious and healthy

Cinammon toast - toast one side, then butter and sprinkle sugar mixed with cinammon on the other, pop under the grill.

My aunt used to make this as part of a snacky sunday tea after a big sunday lunch.
