to add or not to add to the Advents thread?
Like and share comps (or really just the sharing part, but people can be banned for liking too much) are against FB rules. Should they be added to the Advents thread or not?

I think they should be posted as long as they are marked as L&S and people are aware of the risks, then it is up to the individual comper to decide if they wish to do them or not.
By not adding them removes that choice.
Thanks too OneYorkshireLass for running the advents thread, you're doing a grand job!0 -
I've always been surprised MSE allows the posting of comps that break Facebook rules.0

Although I tend to avoid them I would think that if they've already been added to the boards they would linked to advents2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89
2013: £134.960 -

More of them now don't make sharing a condition of entry (such as "great if you could share""share if you like us" etc) but of course there is nothing to stop them just picking from people who have shared.
There is no real difference between competitions which break FB rules and competitions posted which break the IPM guidelines. In either case the person entering is not breaking any "rules" by doing so.0 -
I think it is up to the individual whether to enter. I share as little as possible on Facebook but that is my choice. I am not overly concerned either way.Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli
Thank you to all who post competitions & help the smooth running of the comps board0 -
As the poll is turning out to be neck and neck, I wondered whether a compromise would be adding FB L&S comps to a separate section?
These would be the comps where sharing is a condition of entering, rather than optional.0 -
That sounds like a great idea to me OYL. It would be great if posters could put L&S in the title as well for bookmark compers.
Thanks for all your hard work.0 -

Well done for all your hard work OneYorkshireLass. Have to say I like your idea of putting Facebook L & S as a separate section. Have entered a few so far which require sharing, but am not overly keen and once the advents get fully (more or less) underway at the weekend, if they are separate, I think I will give them a miss. Keep up the good work and would love to know whether you win some good prizes from the advents (as you deserve to from all your work). :T :TSeptember Wins : One Direction posters, Kappa Football.
Thank you to all the lovely posters & board guides :beer:0 -

I like this idea, I appreciate that it will mean even more work for you but I would love to see like and shares listedA closed mouth gathers no feet.0
