Facebook - scam or not?

It is very like a site which was put up a few months ago (sorry, can't remember the name) - they show pictures of the most beautiful items and invite you to Like for a chance of a giveaway but are careful to offer 'an item of your choice', while (to me) strongle inplying you can win the item in the picture. The odd winner has been named but never seems to come forward in response to congratulations or say what they won...:cool:
So am I being over cautious - has anyone on here won with these people, or feel they are being open and above board?:(
