Patak's curry sauces.

I buy my Patak's sauces from Home Bargains, sometimes in glass jars, sometimes in tins. I've noticed that the Tikka Masala in tins seems very different to that in jars.
The jar version is very red in colour and has a thick consistency, whereas the tin version is a much darker brown colour and more "gloopy" if that makes sense.
Anyone else found this or know the reason why? Both are made in the UK.

Are you sure the jars aren't pastes and the tins sauces?0

They both taste ok, and the ingredients list appears the same although proportions may be different but no way of telling.
I wonder if something different happens in the canning process over jars? Perhaps the cans are superheated or something with the mix in them and the jars aren't?0 -
Hi why not contact the makers direct they may be able to help you discover the reason for the difference.
The details should be on the label.0 -

Probably just skimping on the dye for the tinned version because you can't see it until after you open it.
Or maybe they are adding more dye (food colouring) to the jar version to make you buy it.
If they put the tinned version in a glass jar, so you could see it, would you buy it if you had never seen/tasted either version before?0 -

You could be right I guess. Yes I would have still bought it.
The answers to my original questions would appear to be no one else has noticed/cares, or knows why the difference.:)0 -
Jarred food is cooked, then squirted into the jar and the lid sealed.
Tinned food is squirted, raw, into the tin, the tin is sealed and then cooked.
So there is a difference in the way the contents are cooked... that might be part of the issue.0 -
They may be made at different sites.0
