    1. BENARES, LONDON Atul Kochhar was the first Indian chef to gain a coveted Michelin star. His restaurant pioneers a fusion Euro fine dining and Asian spicing. Atul’s love of British ingredients is evident across the menu, with Cornish lamb featuring in his rogan josh and lamb samosa.
    2. LES TROIS GARCONS, LONDON
With 14 chandeliers in one room, Le Trois Garcons is fabulous, glamorous and just a little bit camp. While the d!cor may be eccentric, the restaurant focuses on luxury ingredients and warm hospitality.
    3.FIFTEEN, LONDON
The 10-year anniversary of Jamie Oliver’s social enterprise has seen 134 apprentices graduate with a whopping 80% still working in catering. The restaurant has had a glamorous refurb and the menu is now overseen by ex St John chef, Jon Rotherham.
    4. THE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT, PADSTOW
Ricke Stein cooked at his eponymous restaurant for 22 years, and although the menu started out being classically European it now reflects Rick’s globetrotting love of fish. There are modern takes on lobster thermidor, sashimi and curry, all expertly prepared.
    5. RESTAURANT SAT BAINS, NOTTINGHAM
Two Michelin stars and tasting menus only, the winner of this prize is in for a real treat. Sat Bains’ duck egg dish that won the first ever Great British Menu is still on the menu. The prize will also include a signed copy of his multi award winning debut book Too Many Chiefs Only One Indian.
    6. L’ENCLUME, CUMBRIA

    7. VALVONA & CROLLA, EDINBURGH
A bit of an Edinburgh institution, the original deli dates all the way back to 1934 and the caf! has been serving southern-Italian home cooking since 1996 and some of the dishes (especially the polpettini) have become quite legendary.
    8. LOCANDA LOCATELLI, LONDON
Chic and understated, this is Italian fine dining at its very best. The classic roast rabbit leg, polenta and parma ham is only served for six months of the year, but if it’s on the menu, it’s a must-try.
    9. THE GOODS SHED RESTAURANT, CANTERBURY
Housed in one of the UK’s most attractive food markets, The Goods Shed sources all its ingredients exclusively from Kent. Owner Rafael describes his cooking as ‘rustic, hands-on, no fuss’ and spices up classic British dishes with Spanish flavours.
