Working from home ideas

Options
Hi all.

I've been severely ill for a very long time now and I'm very keen to be working. When I was better I was training to be a teacher and was only weeks from the completion of my course before I became unwell, but now am mostly house bound. I need something flexible in case I am unwell and can't work certain times but need something to make me feel useful.

Any suggestions would be great. I'm so bored and sick of not earning anything!

Many thanks.

  • Hello,
Sorry to hear about you being ill.
What sort of teacher were you training for? Also what are you good at/able to do. What do you like? And how much are you wanting to earn?
Just some of the things to share before we can give you relevant info.

Could you do distance learning? The sort where you answer emails, set and mark work but don't do any face to face tuition. Obviously certain subjects work better than others for that!

If you were only a few weeks away from completing the teaching course, is there any way that you could follow up on this and gain the qualification as it would give you a lot more options.

Perhaps tutoring in your own home, or even distance tutoring on skype might be an idea?
  • Oh thank you so much!

I was training to be a primary teacher. If I continued with my current provider I would have to do the whole second half of the course again and if I went to another provider I would pretty much have to do the whole year over.

Things I like. I love Spanish. I've been learning over the last five years and I'm roughly at the equivalent of A-level standard. I also make jewellery and cards. I'm very good at shopping but I don't see that really as a marketable asset lol!

Distance learning could be a good idea as could tutoring from home. To be honest I don't care how much I earn. Anything would be a huge improvement on the current situation.

Thank you so much for your help and suggestions.
  • sell your jewellery on etsy ebay and your own website. get friends to spread the word on their social platforms. you could do tefl course and then skype lessons for those wanting to learn english

  • I've earned a few quid by playing with this:

Only shared a few times but I've got £3 so far (I might retire lol) for basically a few clicks, I imagine if you've lots of friends on facebook it could be more lucrative.

As long as you make jewellery and cards, it is brilliant idea to make your own blog or to create a website to sell online. This won't be an easy task and it would surely take some time, but nothing prevents to try. As I already said in one random post, there are a lot of free platforms that will be suitable for you. You just need to be active! Also, in case you love writing, try to be a freelance writer to draw a fee. Many IT companies seek for such people, and the benefit is that you can work from home. I wish you luck and health.
