  • I also pay £10 a week to two OD's. The current account I have now doesn't have one, thank God. Barclaycard is due tomorrow so I'll pay £50 off that, then it's my nieces birthday on Wednesday, £20 for that and on Saturday is a friends birthday, £5 on that. And on Saturday night I'll be celebrating my birthday, cocktails with the girls at mine and then head into town, don't want to spend more than £30!

Am off to work soon, so today will be a NSD. And as I'm on the late, I get to keep anything that's going out of date. (I work in a coffee shop). Brilliant if there is sandwiches as my niece will have these for college tomorrow. :T

Is your SOA realistic? £30 on groceries, just over £30 on electric? I think you need to revise your numbers. Then look at clearing the credit cards (one with the highest interest rate).
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500
  • As a fellow Newbie, just wanted to drop by and offer some encouragement. You're doing a great job, it cant be easy. I echo the comments of Mara... throw any spare cash at the C/C's first, only when they have been paid would I over pay the Mortgage.

    Regards SKLF
    H**if*x C/C = £770 02/14

Yes, my DD for gas and electric is £66, I have been paying this amount for about 6 months now. I hardly use any. I work 9 hours a day and I walk to and from work which is 45 minutes each way.
As for groceries, £30 will fill my larder and freezer. I will live off whatever I can until I have to go shopping again, even if that means toast for dinner. I'm lucky that I can have the food going out of date from work, tonight for example, I had a ham and cheese panini, no cost to me and saves my food for another time. If I'm on a late, (7.30 finish, home by 8.15), I'll tell my niece to have food at her dads, saving another meal. I have no treats in the house, I'm very strict on what I buy. I probably have dinner at home 2 maybe 3 nights a week.
I'm also very lucky that I can go to my mums whenever I want for food.

  • Today has been a very productive day, I cleaned my house from top to bottom, mother did some finishing touch jobs (wiring, painting etc.) and I did 4 loads of washing. Go me! I also paid my last £2.56 into the mortgage account.
I applied for a credit builder card the other day and they actually said yes! This is where it starts. I'm allowing myself a £5 limit a month and then paying it off in full, I can then hopefully look at a balance transfer card next year. Pay day tomorrow, I can pay Barclaycard and a little bit off the others.

Feeling positive now, hope everyone has had a good day!
