'Man Food' Help

Hi everyone, DH is having a few work friends around on Sunday night, I can't think of anything to make as a 'snack'! I want something easy but has a wow factor, pulled pork maybe or is that too much?

Any ideas welcome!

Pulled pork will only be 'wow' if the sauce is good

Chilli with nachos is quite easy and man-food imho. Loads of cheese, sour cream, salsa with it and they're sorted?

Ditto to chilli - easy to jazz up, and they'll probably enjoy constructing their own meals :) You could provide a choice of tortillas or rice, as an alternative to nachos.

  • Pulled pork would wow me.
Make sure you leave them with chilli/bbq sauce.

Don't make it too yummy though, as they'll be back quite often and then their wives will get jealous ;)

Anything meaty should do the trick, but the pulled pork sounds scrumptious :)

Something easy that always gets good responses is pizza.
  • What about fajitas for them to assemble themselves. Or sliders (I think these are like little burgers). I watch too much Diners, Drive In's and Dives on the Food Network! :rotfl:

  • Hubby ha a gaming day here with his gaming pals for his 40th - came at lunchtime, left @ 10pm. My "role" which I choose - the food and looking after them.

Lunch - sandwiches, saugsage rollls, crisps, basic buffet stuff. I went to visist dad & friends, go shopping in afternoon. (make sure you plan for you too!) Tea - big pot of chilli and big pot of curry, served with rice, naan and garlic bread. Big pots made the night before as was a pot of soup they could dip into throughout the day if needed. His friends brought extra crisps beers etc. They had big appetites and I had very little left.

    Birthday cake too.

Borrow pressure cookers, pots etc if you need too and make use of your freezer if prepping in advance.

Good luck & enjoy! I actaully enjoy potterng in the kitchen and loved spoiling hubby. His friends really chipped in with spoiling him. The thanks and appreciation from his friends for being looked after was a really sweet touch....:-)

I do a very simple and quick pulled pork, A pork shoulder joint de-rinded. I jar of the cheapest sweet and sour sauce and 1/3 of a jar of chipolte BBQ sauce.

Mix the sauces together in the slow cooker, and then add the pork making sure it's covered in sauce and cook on low for 8-10 hours.

I have to hide the leftovers.
