Aww you guys are great. :kisses3:

I'm sat here with a big (non granule) cheesy grin on my face, pleased as punch with myself! :D

I must say, it was pucker! I'm a bit bloated now though! :o

I've got a pepper left over! Perhaps I could fill it with bacon and ice-cream?

Why have I never thought of making lasagne in quite that way?

Just to avoid the granular sauce you could try this ...

A large pot of natural yogurt
a couple of eggs or one would do or maybe three it doesn't seem to matter much
as much cheese as you can be bothered to grate
a pinch of dry mustard but only if you're feeling REALLY stylish

pour it all over the lasagne and cook it in the usual way. The cheatiest cheese sauce that's never seen a granule and guaranteed not to go wrong.

SS Don't know if this will help but i'm the only one in the house that likes peppers and i like to stick them in everything i cook.

However my OH and kids don't seem to like them at all and i always end up having to throw them away cause they go a bit mongy !

    Solution,
Go to Iceland and buy a bag of frozen chopped mixed peppers, ready chopped so it'll save those pinkies and there is loads in there it will last me over a month and it only costs a quid, better still i can just grab the bag grab a big handful and just lob them in, no mess no fuss and it'll save you dosh ! :D
    Everyone's a winner :D

That's the version of cheese sauce I use for moussaka - didn't think of using it for anything else.

You could add moussaka to your repertoire SS - kind of lasagne with a layer of aubergine.:D
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I've got a pepper left over!

If you plan on using it anything, where the shape of the slices are noticable - like a salad or stir fry - I have a tip for getting straight slices out of a round pepper.

Cut the top and the bottom off. Then make a cut straight down one side. You can then open it out (removing the middle bit, seeds, etc.) and you are magically left with a rectangular pepper!

PS. SS, have a look in those discount book shops for the "Cooking for Blokes" trilogy.

    Hi steph,

I make mine in much the same way as you do only I use broccoli instead of sweetcorn.

There's a thread here with lots of recipes for cheese sauce
