I havent a clue about video camera's, but am looking to buy one on my small budget of £200. Could anyone recommend one around this price range or give me tips on what to look for?

I would recommend getting a mini-dv camera. They can be picked up for under £200, blank tapes are cheap, and if you have firewire on your pc, are easy to transfer for non-linear editing. OK, you may say tapes are an 'old' format but the DVcam format, the 'full size' version of a miniDV is still the preferred format of the professional. Tapes are cheap enough to keep the raw footage on, should you wish to do so."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

I wasnt actually being negative, I was informing the OP that I have posted numerous requests for information on VideoCamera's to no avail.

Hi misscharlie, I've been looking around for a while too and have read up on opinions on a few techie forums as I didn't have a clue what to look for and have decided to go for the mini dv type.
Went into a Jessops shops to get their advice, and the sa also recommended mini dv with either Cannon or Sony and although there are a few cheaper ones, this is the one I'll probably go for it's £180 on Amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DCR-HC37-Handycam-Camcorder-screen/dp/B000MK1U7U/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/203-8862038-5877525?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1181670673&sr=8-1
Some of the online survey companies offer Amazon vouchers as rewards, so if you do any of those, you could get it even cheaper as I intend to do.
And as someone else has already mentioned, make sure your pc has a firewire connection.0
