Hello all
Thought it was time to start yet another diary as yet another has lapsed
Will make a good effort to keep this one up to date!
So a bit of background, at highest debt was around £11k (2010) and has gone up and down. This was made up of a loan todo a postgrad course and money borrowed from mum for costs when I bought my house. Have cleared all the original debt but had a few really good hols so it has gone back up! Currently it stands at £4550
Previously I have cleared it through mystery shopping and budgeting, then when I bought my house I got a lodger and also used that.
At present my wage covers all bills and budgeted spends eg xmas, bdays, weekends away, hair, misc spends etc... but not really anything left (but I generally do stay within budget). My budget includes lots of non essentials like lovely gym (but do go 5-7 times per week :A), contact lenses, sky etc... but I like my treats and am definetely a make more money gal rather than cutting back!
This is my main account which generally ticks along nicely by itself.
I have a separate account where I put extra money earnt which I call my debt account as that money is used to pay debts. I get £340 rent from my lodger. In addition I do mystery shopping, and earn anywhere between £150- £300 but its normally around the £200 mark. I will also shortly be getting a small payrise of approx £40. I will aim for £550 over payment per month but will use all extra money earnt so if I do earn extra then the payment will be more
I am shortly going to apply to remortgage for nov when current deal ends. will be getting a better deal but will keep monthly payments the same to reduce term so wont have any extra.
My first goal is to have cc down to £3000 upon completion in nov which should be more than doable
My next goal is that i am going to go to india next year as well as clear the cc. I have done a realistic budget for this as I normally budget for hols but always miss things so overspend! I estimate I will need £3k max which includes everything such as visa and vacinations, malaria tabs etc.. which I normally forget. It also includes £500 misc spends incase I have forgotten anything!
So two options- I go to India in March and then repay the remaining 3k when I get back, debt free date Sept 14 or I go in Oct and will be debt free in March 14 and pay for India by time I get back. I would prefer to go in March but will see what friend wants to do.
In any event, debt free date Sept 14 at latest

August will be a really good month as last month I earnt lots mystery shopping so due around £300 in payments in aug :j so aim to pay around £650 off (rent and ms). havent had the small payrise yet but that will be backdated so can pay at bit more then.
In addition I did some overtime last month and also had a 1% payrise backdated to april which will come in this month. plus got a bit of expenses coming back from work. so estimate an extra £200 in wages this month. I will be using this to pay for home insurance in full (hopefully around £110 like last year) and also to pay the £99 fee for my new mortgage. From aug pay I will start to save £10pm for my home ins next year so that I dont ever need to pay in full again
got 4 things on ebay which should go for around £15 today
that will be paid straight off cc as min payment is due 19th (already paid the other £30 of it). annoyingly min payment due day before i receive rent and statement is produced 7 days after min payment. means when i make my big £340 payment it is after min payment but before new statement so doesnt count towards the next month! unless i know i have ms payments due throughout the month i will delay paying £45 of rent off until new statement is produced!
so plans for today-
paint fence and raised bed in front garden
try and get rest of back garden painted (only a small amount left)
type up 3 ms from yesterday
clean bedroom and downstairs
hoover car, do inside windows and wash if time
cook pot thai curry
cook pot soup
attempt to make cake pops (1st time!)
lets crack on :cool::j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

Hi clippy girl.
Your India plan sounds fantastic. That is somewhere that I have always dreamed of going, followed by the Annurpurna trek in Nepal.

hello

weight is ok, down to 10st 10 now
taken lots of work and has gone up and down lots but don't want to go up again! would like to get to under 10st now so thats the next goal!
just accepted a few more ms and added up aug total. up to £159 done/booked :j hoping for around £60 take home from overtime so thats met aug extra income challenge :T will obv try and get some more to get it up even higher!
interesting thought- will carry on ms when debt free. with extra pay, rent and ms hoping to have at least £600 per month left. decided £300 each month to holiday fund and rest (at least £300) for emergency/house fund. that means after one year i could have £3600 in emergency fund! now i will pay £400 for new fridge and maybe £1k to redo bedroom (need new window, skirting, door frame) and want to redecorate, new bedding etc.. but thats still potentially £2k left after one year! going to get it up to £3k then overpay future £300's off mortgage . if i need to use any of the £3k eg new boiler, sofa etc... then i can stop overpayments and make it back up. getting a 4 year mortgage so even if i only manage say 6 months over payments i years 2,3 and 4 thats an extra £5.4k off mortgage :A:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

so picked up another £10 job today. only one more ms booked this month and up to £169

bad news is my printer seems to be broken
obv its essential doing ms so i will need to get a new one. it keeps chewing paper up every time i print. nothing stuck in it and ive given it a good shake just in case
will be around £60 to replace it with similar hp one from currys. will shop around and also see what other brands are like
:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
printer is def dead
but mum is going to give me her old one so dont need to buy one
so get paid on monday and have my payslip so have planned the finances. should have exactly £207 left of wage after all budgeted spends so that can cover £99 mortgage fee and most of/all home insurance.
i should be receiving £307 in ms payments by the end of the month (quite a lot of jobs i have done wont be paid til sep). from this i need to pay £31.80 off my cc for misc random spends. as i have so much on this month i am going to give myself £50 of this towards them. so around £225 to go to cc as well as £340 rent. have already paid £45 off cc this month.
i am away to see friends this weekend. have got £70 in cash and train ticket will go on cc and be reimbursed from budget on monday. will try and stick to the £70 but may be difficult for L, D and B out as well as night out to cocktail bar! if i need to i will use some of the extra £50.:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
so payday yest. gave myself the £50 out of my wage so will use ms for home insurance. transferred the rest of wage to debt account and cleared monthly spend card. rent in today so just paid £350 off cc. now down to £4184. as i still have around £330 in ms due before sept then as long as can get insurance for around £100 then i will get below £4k :j have been sent 2 offers so far, £50 cashback from halifax and £50 m&s vouch from L&G so will quote those two direct as well
:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0
