Batch cooking instead of making extra work just make a little extra each time, hardly notice doing it and a few spares for the freezer each time.

If you would like to you can join the flylady thread on here, I won't be running things next week, Michelle will be, but the list will be up from Sunday if you want to pick some off there to help. We've had a few with 'flybabies' born inc recently who have used it to help get a little more organised etc.

I will say don't overdo it, but as a Mam know what the nesting stage can be like and the need to clean which overpowers all feeling lifeless etc. Make some time for yourself, keep energy levels up and don't overdo it.

A little reminder list for your partner when you are in hospital can be a good one if you are even the slightest concerned that you will come home to a bomb site.

A nice box to put cards etc in when you get home, something I forgot to do with DS1 and regretted as by the time I felt up to going for one some were damaged etc.
One day I might be more organised...........

My advice would be sit down & make a list of everything you can think of that needs doing before baby arrives & then put it into priority order. High on priority has got to be what you & baby need for hospital, get it bought & packed. Then what is needed when the baby comes out? Baby will need clean clothes & so will you, somewhere to sleep etc. Things like wash curtains, etc can go at the bottom of the list. When you have energy work your way down the list, rest when you feel you need to, listen to what your body tells you.

I write this all in hindsight as I wish I had done it, I was trying to paint the baby room, rather than getting the moses basket covers ironed & put on as I didnt want to get paint on them etc when I was sent to hospital suffering very badly with preclampsia, I was induced the next afternoon & Kai was born the next morning at 4:00 3weeks & 2days early. OH had to keep bringing things in I had forgotten & got everything ready at home. 10 weeks later & his room is still only 1/2 painted, but he's got everything he needs.

    Good luck with it all

Good idea with the priority list, I do that every week with things I want to get done/need to get done.

Something I forgot to add, the things I wish I'd stocked up on were the likes of toiletries etc for me, things DP is useless at buying, I can trust him to go and get milk(occasionally) but deoderant, shampoo etc he's flaming clueless! Unless your partners a well trained shopper for girly things make sure you have all that type of stuff you might need.

  • Hello,

I saved up lots of magazines, I was so high after the birth of my daughter I couldn't sleep! Nice to try and switch off. I stocked up on lots of nappies (not terrys i'm afraid!), burp cloths, a dimmer switch for babies room, my best buy was a tummy tub - my little girl loved the bath!

My daughter arrived on her due date, I put it down to raspberry leaf tea!

    Good luck x
