I buy a lot of yellow sticker stuff then split and freeze it. If I remember I take out what I need for the evening that morning (except joints obviously.) If I don't remember I just defrost it in the microwave when I get home.
I'm another one for lists - I date label everything as it goes in, keep a list, then just try to use up the stuff that's been in the longest first. Plus if you've got a list you can look at it and decide what you're in the mood for, as opposed to rummaging and deciding you don't fancy any of it. And it's easier to plan ahead, so if I'm doing a chilli and buying veg to go in it, I can use the rest of the veg the next day for a curry or stir fry. My meal planning doesn't go any further ahead than that, as I change my mind far too often.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I've been through my freezer (and cupboards) and made a list of what's in my freezer. Please don't judge me when I post my freezer list - it's obscene.

2 x 1/2 eaten tubs of vanilla icecream
    Some frozen white grapes
    Some frozen red grapes
    7 x frozen bananas
    6 x mini callipos
    4 x ww pitta breads
    6 x brown rolls
2 x part baked petit pains
    6 x slices of bread
    4 x cola jubblys
    2 x cherry jubblys
    5 x rocket lollys
    2 x mystery yellow lollys
1 x pack of filo pastry
    6 x burger buns
    6 x white finger buns
    2 x gammon steaks
    4 x chicken fillet portions
    1 x pomegranate lamb shoulder
    7 x quorn fillets
    8 x quorn sausages
1 x portion of quorn pieces
    some squid?!?!
    8 x chicken burgrs
    2 x chicken thighs
    230g smoked haddock fillet
    324g cold loins
2 x white fish flakey fillets
1 x mystery gammon cut (possibly another steak?)
    2 x bream
    3 x hake
4 x corn on the cob
    sweetcorn
    fine green beans
1.5 x packs of chopped peppers
    petit pois
    peas

I also have in my cupboard quinoa, giant couscous, regular couscous, straight to wok noodles (x 6), wholewheat noodle nests (x5), a bit of arborio rice, 3 types of pasta in assorted amounts, lasagne sheets, passata, 1 pack of chopped tomatoes, loads of pots of tomato puree, tin of green lentils, 2 tins of basic potatoes, 3 small spaghetti shape tins, 2 big tins of numberetti, dates, apricots, brown and white rice and loads of sauces and seasonings!!

There's also cereals, porridge sachets, porridge oats, TWENTY TWO alpen light bars and some spreads.

After that I couldn't face the fridge so I will list that tomorrow.

Gonna make spreadsheets to go on the inside of the cupboards/front of the fridge & freezer so we can cross off or reduce the amount on the list as we use stuff.

It's an obscene amount of food. It's built up since we moved in which was January but it's still ridiculous.

Just out of interest, do you deliberately make too much so there is left overs or is it a case of made more than needed shall freeze. TBH we very rarely have leftovers & if we did it would be worth freezing ie a bit of Naan bread/ something off someones plate. I just always see 'leftover' tips and wonder if its a deliberate thing like when I made a double batch & freeze.

Sorry, back to the OP, I had read this and thought 'oh mine doesnt either, the handles broken, i just wedge it in the door and it shuts' then I realised your problem. At least its freezer food which will keep. We have a tiny fridge freezer and although I'd love a big fridge / freezer (no room), that reason does put me off as I know I go through strange phases of things I buy, at least with a fridge I eat it within a week. Goodluck!

I'm a very phasey eater so I will go through a phase and then stock up on the food I like just in case and then go off it and still have loads. You'll see from the list I just posted we have lots of frozen fruit and lots of quorn because I went through a phase of eating it everyday.

I'm very picky about textures and for a long time I wouldn't eat in public so I'm a bit difficult! If I can't buy the exact product I like I find it hard to deal with. I'm happy to try new things but I want it to be a choice rather than forced upon me. Recently they discontinued the gherkins I eat from Sainsburys and it threw me because I bought other types but didn't like them. In the end I tracked some down to a large Tesco store but now I buy them 2 or 3 jars at a time just in case we can't get them in the future.
I've got better as I've got older and until I confess about it people don't realise but I've got a lot of food issues.
