Don't know what to do

I have a loan with Wonga for £740. I know it was a big mistake that I would never do again
I then lost my job and told them I would need to make a repayment schedule so they sent me an I&E which said I have no in-disposable income so I would need to make an arrangement
Today they have just taken the £740 from my bank
I really don't know what to do.

You can try asking them for it back, until you have payment plan in place?
They took £1224 from me, and refunded it back within 24hrs.
They might not, but its worth a go? Maybe more difficult though, as you have told them you have no income....0 -
I'm not clear on what the problem is. You are only supposed to enter into a payment plan if you don't have the money to pay them back. You had enough in your account to cover the payment and so they took it.
Count yourself lucky, you've cleared your most expensive debt on time, so will still have a decent credit record, and yoo won't have to owrry about it hanging over you.0 -
It wasn't on time and the money they took was the wages my partner has as we only have one income now.
It means I have no money for rent or bills or council tax, or gas or electric or anything else for the next month. I have £23 in my account for a month.0 -

Yes the debt is cleared but there's a good chance that money was needed for rent/bills/food etc. I know that would be the case for me!0 -
do you have any credit cards/overdrafts or anything that you can use to cover the month ?
it'll be cheaper than a payday loan if you can.
otherwise you will just have to contact them, ask for the money back and arrange a payment plan to pay it back
im still amazed how many people take out payday loans then lose thier jobs0 -
Could you arrange a small overdraft on your account to tide you over? Live frugally for a month and aim to clear the OD asap.
No more PDL but be careful you don't fall into the OD debt trap!
Needs must though....
Alternatively, could you borrow any ££ from family?DEBT FREE AND PROUD

No I dont have good enough credit for that, thats why we ended up with the payday loan in the first place0

How long ago did they send you the I&E form? Had you returned it to them already and did you make a payment proposal at the same time? if so how long between that and them making the deduction?
You could try getting them to refund it. Point out that you had already informed them you had lost your income and sent them the I&E form. Inform them that the money in your account was for priority items such as rent & utilities.
For future reference (or for anyone other people in the same situation) its always worth cancelling the CPA with the bank to ensure that a payday loan company cannot withdraw money needed to for essentials.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
It was a month between them recieving the proposal and taking the money out. It just seems weird because this was an uncheduled payment, my OH's work had problems so paid on a different day to normal and yet they seemed to know enough to try and take it today.0

Did your proposal specify an amount you were offering to pay a month? and had they not replied to that at all?
Chances are they have been trying to deduct the money regularly and today was the day it went through.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
