Yeah I understand the costs involved and tht is why I didn't go there as clearly it would be unfair.
I was just a bit surprised at how bad the graphics were with Crysis on xbox, I will be buying an PS4 as I don't have the money for a top end PC but will always be thinking what I'm missing on PC.
I don't understand the point made above that a top PC now will struggle with games in a couple of years? would xbox and PS4 also not struggle too as won't these consoles be around for a good 5-7 years like the last gen? why would they make games that xbone/PS4 can't play at full wack?0 -

consoles have(in the main) fixed standards
So there are fixed limits in place
The PC is an open platform and specs change
So developers have different limitations and goals
console developers are trying to get the best out of the limitations of the hardware0 -
Crysis isn't
Indeed, one of the "cool" points for Crysis was being able to run it ultra high.
It's part of the aura around the game.
Won't speak to the keyboard/mouse vs gamepad, but if you learn to build your own PC you can get a great machine for a good price.
(even better if you have mates who upgrade before you do and you can buy their hand-me-down graphics cards, otherwise, eBay works too)0 -

You need to get a game like Hotline Miami and then come and tell us all that graphics have anything to do with it! Some of the best games have "poor" graphics, remember Goldeneye on the N64? Or Secrets of Mana on the old Nintendos, the list is endless.0 -

You don't need a "top end" PC for gaming, a decent PC made in the last 4-5 years will do, 90% of the work for gaming is done by the graphics card so get a decent one and a beefy enough PSU and away you go.
Plug in a bluetooth dongle and connect a PS3 controller wirelessly, wireless mouse/keyboard, plug the HDMI lead into the TV and relax in armchair without the cost of a separate console, and enjoy no shortage of harddrive space, great graphics, free online service and much cheaper games.0 -

I think you've missed the point.0 -

The point about gameplay being more important than the graphics?0 -
The point about gameplay being more important than the graphics?
The point about them being, nowadays, as important as the other. Otherwise we'd all be playing blocky games from the 80's.
People want more and more from modern games, how it looks ranks quite highly, and I'd stick my neck out and say it would rank right up there next to gameplay on the importance scale.0 -

I don't disagree that it's great to have a game with great graphics and gameplay, but they aren't as important as gameplay. The latest Assassins Creed had great graphics but the gameplay was dull, same with Final Fantasy 13, that was a real let down but looked nice.0
