Creidt scores - I don't understand!

Firstly apologies if this is not the correct board but I am currently looking for a mortgage and posted a few days ago about being refused by Halifax (our current lender) for a homemover mortgage.
Since being refused I have checked out my credit score with all three credit reference agencies and all vary so much I don't know who to believe
Experian say 772, Equifax 367, and Callcredit 1352. Halifax say they use Equifax.
Can anyone shed any light on how this works cos I really don't get it, according to Callcredit my rating is 5* but with Equifax only "fair"? Seeing IFA on Friday so hope to get mortgage thing sorted out.
Thanks :A

you need to actually look at your credit records and see whats on them..ignore credit scores.0

I don't know about callcredit but with https://www.checkmyfile.com/default.asp you can pay a little extra and get a more detailed credit history which should show you where the problem is.
Either that or approach Equifax directly and get a detailed report from them, until you know exactly why they are giving you a low credit rating you can't begin to dispute it and get the decision turned around.0 -
Please note that sometimes the credit reference agencies will hold different information. That could be impacting on your credit score between the agenciesI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. And also bear in mind that the scores you can get from the agencies aren't definitive - they're only a guide. Lenders calculate their own scores, which often include info the CRAs don't have, such as job, salary etc. They may also have more detailed information about you if you've been a customer before.
I suggest you take CLAPTON's advice, find out which CRA Halifax used and check your credit report with this agency. You could also try asking the Halifax for a more detailed explanation of their decision to refuse your application.“Official Company Representative
