Anyone read 'a child called it'?

Hi i have finished reading this in 1 day and i cannot believe how sad moving it is! I was in tears for most of the book.

I do want to read part 2 and 3 and was wondering what people thought of them and also where i can buy them cheaply?

I cannot believe that any human being can think of and torture a defenseless child? I am just sat here in complete shock really.

I am soooooo glad he is ok now but i wonder what happened to his family?

Anyway sorry if its on the wrong board i just wanted to hear others opinions.

Thanks

I haven't read it myself. If it's the book I'm thinking of my younger dughter has read it.

I think she got it from the library. If you ask them they mey be able to get it in for you.

I got the 3 books for about £10....you'd probably find them as a set on one of the cheapy book sites.

The first book I read in a day, couldn't put it down!

The second book was really good too, but the 3rd book I don't think I even finished.

Yes, but I don't share the same opinion as you.

Unless somebody actually has an ability to write, I wish they would not think they are entitled to write a book about it. The misery-genre is out of hand, with anybody who has had a so-called traumatic incident writing about things. It is tedious, and I want to !!!!!-slap some of these people for droning on.

Yes, the author's childhood was traumatic. But it's not the worst thing I have read. I have no sympathy for those playing the pity-me card.

I realise this sounds very harsh.

But there are well-written books out there, such as 'Prozac Nation' or 'Running with Scissors' in my view. The authors actually have talent. For those who haven't, they should stick with paying their therapist or whatever and not inflict their writing on the rest of us.

sorry dont agree at all! aurora borealis and barcode.

I think that by writing the harsh, moving and sordid truth about what happened to him has in fact made a difference. This is going by his web site. It raised awareness, he dedicated the rest of his life to the cause.

Isn't it a little .... strange ... that he has structured his life around what happened as a child? I can't help but think anybody that does that is out to milk all the attention they can get. This is not a nice thing to say. We are supposed to say "how awful" when we hear about such things; but there are far, far, far too many thinking the whole world wants to hear about their stories. I find it strange to write about it, and I find it strange that people want to read all the details.
