Just wondering if you have a temperature? I normally get very tired when I have some sort of a bug and just assume this is my bodies way of getting me to stop so it can deal with the thing and hence I feel very tired and sleep and still feel tired. If you can keep your fluids up this will help- even if your bringing them up 10 minutes later its better then nothing. I was told by a Doctor that if you can't drink, to just keep a glass of water close and to sip it from a spoon every few minutes. It's enough to help over time but shouldn't be enough to bring on the gag reflex. If it does make you throw up, take in less and wait longer between sips.

If your feeling very dehydrated, try adding a pinch of salt and a table spoon of sugar to a glass, may sound daft but it will help with your electrolytes which is what gets affected when your dehydrated. Otherwise if you are able to take in more, try a glass of water to orange juice 50/50, again helps with electrolytes but with a little more energy.

    Hope you get well soon.

Thanks for the advice jenniewb. I don't have a temperature. I think it was 36 point something last time they checked. They keep wanting me to drink milk. I've tried this but I pretty much vomit straight away.

Get someone to do a urine dipstick test for you. I had your symptoms and I went to A&E 3 times before they kept me in. And that was only because my mum took me and refused to leave until they admitted me. It turned out that I had a kidney infection, which cleared up after 3 days of antibiotics. They kept telling me that I was probably pregnant, that's the only reason I got the urine test done, to prove them wrong!

I don't envy you, I lost over a stone in weight in around 10 days. and I found it very difficult to eat and drink when I was discharged, I had no appetite at all. Don't let this rest, insist that you have some proper tests done and do draw attention to your bruises. At the very least, you should probably be on a fluid drip, you must be dehydrated by now.

Hope you feel better soon. :)

    Thanks for replying.

I will mention the urine dipstick test to the Doctor tomorrow.

Re: weight loss. I'm slightly overweight but I have noticed that my jeans are a lot looser than they were previously. I don't have a big appetite but I am hungry and would eat if I could. I am very thirsty.

I was vomiting lots last night and they called the duty Doctor and he's told them I need to exercise.

That was my thought. I definitely don't feel like exercising.

I think you need to see a different Doctor...
What a random and unhelpful thing to say! Did he even say why this would help with a vomiting virus?

If its any help, as an ex runner (one day I'll go back to it!) the rule is if the symptoms are above the neck, you can run/exercise but with caution, if the symptoms are below the neck you have to hold off until your body has repaired itself. Exercise can give a slight boost to your immune system but if your so unwell your vomiting its not going to make enough of a difference to help you. Rest, drink plenty (but slowly) and keep your temperature down if you have one.
