UKIP's Chris Pain steps down as regional chairman in racist probe

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-22765204

    Bye bye bigot!

    Gesture of goodwill :rotfl:

Just to confirm, he has stepped down from Regional Chairman whilst the Police Investigations are copmleted. He has not stepped down from his elected councilor position.

A couple of others accused of posting racist comments on their facebook pages that you have posted about have now been cleared by the UKIP National Executive Committee after thorough investigation. Police investigations are still to be completed but it's obvious to me what he result of the investigations is likely to be. Anybody involved in spreading this smear campaign is going to end up looking very stupid indeed.

    Probably a foul slur....
Nigel Farage, UK Independence Party leader, has admitted to “a mistake” in setting up a fund in an offshore financial centre. Mr Farage’s “man of the people” image was dented on Thursday when the Daily Mirror reported he set up the Isle of Man fund advised by a tax expert.

The revelations came at the end of a week in which tax avoidance topped the agenda at a G8 summit in Northern Ireland, with world leaders agreeing to push for more transparency and rules to support eroding national tax bases.

The Ukip leader said the “world has changed” since the fund was set up; it had been closed and he had not gained financially.
The Isle of Man was one of the crown dependencies which last week agreed with David Cameron, prime minister, to increase transparency.

The MEP said: “My financial advisers recommended I did it, to have a trust really for inheritance purposes and I took the advice and I set it up. It was a mistake. “I was a completely unsuitable person for it. I am not blaming them, it was my fault. It’s a vehicle you chuck things in through your life you don’t need and build up a trust fund for your children or grandchildren.”

Could happen to anyone - don't we all have trust fund in the Isle of Man that we chuck money into for the kids?

EDIT: Ex FT but based on Mirror article.

I guess if our IFA recommended it as a way to shelter wealth we would all do it (if we needed to).

Whilst not them personally, haven't Batman and Robin benefitted from family trusts and inheritance planning? Something tells me they will do the same for their offspring in due course (if they haven't already).

Looks like some corporation tax was being avoided. He waived all rights to dividends in favour of his brother (£1m worth) - HMRC will be having a close look at where that was spent.

Whether he's guilty of tax evasion remains to be seen. Certainly guilty of hypocrisy.

No different to many MPs and politicians so ideally qualified.;)

Would be nice to have to worry about £1m of dividends.

    Hardly a revelation.

Who, with money doesn't take measures to mitigate tax?

These measures are available to anyone with enough money so why should one person have to justify themselves? As an example, when Jimmy Carr was exposed my feeling was that he was being used as a scapegoat. It's the system that needs cleaning up.
