Have a play with one in Argos, Tesco etc and see what you think, I won one but only use it for the odd game or catch up tv etc nothing "real".

I would stick with a pc, good size screen, keyboard and mouse.

Thanks for the question bubbleyboo and your answer mjm3346.
I am sure a PC is the best 'tool' but on a nice sunny day like today I would like to comp in the back garden. I don't have a laptop so it's either buy a laptop or a tablet (which I could use as an e-reader when outside of Wi-Fi) ?
Anyone else got any experiences to share please.

Personally I can't get to grips with tablets, DD has iPad 1, I can't use it, but that may be the technophobe in me! I have a mouse with my laptop as I find it quicker to comp than using the touchpad. And on sunny days I can be found on the decking sunbathing & comping with a towel over my head and laptop (because of the screen glare).
My neighbours must think I'm a right idiot :rotfl::rotfl:
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I use a tablet for comping and find it quite good. Its a nexus 7 (comp win). It took a short while to get used to but I've got all my details saved on chrome auto fill and I now manage to enter comps pretty fast :-) I like the ease of it and being able to sit and enter competitions whilst watching TV or in my bed lol

I also have a nexus 7, but have had the opposite experience. I find it nice to "waste time" on, but when I need to get down to business I'm back to the desktop PC.

But each to their own :)

I won an ipad and have used that for the hourlys on The Times, but that's it. Its good to quickly check emails or banking, but I wouldn't use it to comp on personally.

We had our lap top stolen at the weekend, and i am trying very hard to use our tablet for comping until the insurance is sorted out. I am finding it really hard as i am all fingers and thumbs on it. I much prefer the laptop for comping.

I take my tablet (an ASUS EEEpad) on holiday with me and do comp from it when I am away whenever I get some me time. In fact I won ITV Real Deal last year from my tablet entry whilst in Germany

Personally, I prefer my laptop and windows OS. I find that quite a few sites you get the Android or mobile version on a tablet. I did post a thread earlier last week (didn't get any replies) as I cannot get Stylist, Shortlist or Telegraph competition pages to work on the Android system.

The Android browser has an "autofill" facility which is OK, so for doing ITV comps it sometimes remembers your name etc. However I find it much slower when having to type out forms from the tablet than a keyboard and I always manage to hit the wrong letter so it takes me much longer.

Do not get a Samsung Galaxy tab 2. I got one for my birthday last year and it has a know fault where you cannot copy and paste. It's supposedly a fault with the clipboard where it doesn't empty itself.

Samsung are aware of the issue (I googled it and there are posts on forums everywhere) but apparently aren't bothered.

I was really looking forward to comping on it as my laptop is on its last legs but it has been relegated to only being used to play Candy Crush on when I'm bored :(
    Thanks to all posters

I use a Nexus 7 which is ok to use for comping in front of the Tv but most days there are some comps that I need to look at on the PC (Upstairs all alone in the cold!)
Somethings I've noticed are that I can't 'thank' posters on my tablet and it is very slow to pick up auto typing - it won't do numbers. Also if there is a 'Flash' element to a competition or page it is no good as Flash isn't compatible with Android. Certainly handy for when I'm away and much easier than my phone!
