Phew, what a day.
First the CCCS guy this morning, he was very nice and helpful and reassuring, and without actually telling me to go bankrupt, he was steering me that way, I felt. I was very shakey and emotional this morning - lots of leaking eyes!
The CAB lady this afternoon confirmed my only option is bankruptcy. Bizarrely, by the time I saw her my mood had swung to upbeat, she must have thought I wasn't grasping the seriousness of the situation! I think it's kind of a relief that the decision is made.
So she has told me to get the forms from the court and make an appointment with her to help me fill them in. In the meantime, open a new bank account because I owe the best part of £20k to the people I have my current account with, and stop paying my creditors, including the car, since I'll be losing it anyway. Put the money instead towards the fees! She is writing to all my creditors next week to ask them to freeze interest and accept £1 a month - they won't accept it she said, so I guess that's when it gets really hard - my access to credit will be lost and the letters and phone calls will pour in.
I've been to Nationwide and applied for their basic account, and have disclosed to them the reason why, in the hopes they won't freeze the account when I'm bankrupt. They didn't bat an eyelid thankfully. I've not been to the court for the forms yet - will do that on Monday. One step at a time hey.
Thanks for helping me get this far. I hope you'll hang in there with me for the rest of the journey. I'm looking forward to the day I can come here and announce my early discharge!

I can't believe this is nearly a year ago.
I've just been looking through my old posts, revisiting the place I was in 12 months ago, staring down the barrel of the bankruptcy gun. I wanted to compare and contrast with my life now - I am so much happier now, and so very much in control of my life.
I'm never going to be announcing that early discharge though...Boooo! But less than 2 months to go!
Whatever happened to AlanD?0 -
Glad things are so much better now!
Whatever happened to AlanD?
One too many run-ins with some trolls I think. Decided not to post any more. His OH Tigerfeet is still around though.
