Hi all
Like others on here iv been struggling with debt for a while now but recently its really spiralled out of control (for me ).Iv completely maxed out my credit card to the tune of £7850 which has really only gone on living expenses and what i can only call the odd splurge when iv been on a down day and can only just about cover the minimum repayments each month.Iv also been signed off with depression and my work couldn't keep me on.I really don't know where to turn iv been looking at 0% balance transfer cards but im pretty sure no one will offer me card or loan due to my debt amount and lack of employment although iv never missed a payment before and have a good credit score.Sorry for the ramble but it's really getting to me and don't really now where to turn.
Thank you
Gary

Is this credit card your only debt? If so, then call the credit card company and explain the situation and see if you can come to an agreement regarding repayment if you can't afford the minimum. I'm guessing the minimum payment is somewhere around £250?
Regarding your recent unemployment and situation - have you checked if you are entitled to any benefits or maybe job seekers allowance if you are now well enough to look for work? Could you get housing benefit/allowance? I'm not an expert in this area but I would suggest a visit to your local citizens advice bureau who will be able to help.
I very much doubt you will be able to switch to a 0% card until you have a permenant job.
Hope this is in some way helpful.0 -
Also, how about trying to make a little bit of money on the internet - things like online survey sites, selling unwanted items on ebay. Could make you a bit of cash to keep you going.0

Is the credit card with the bank with whom you have your current account?
If so, you need a new basic bank account urgently and to get your benefits paid in there. Otherwise the bank can offset (nick) the money coming in from beneifts to pay off your credit card.
have checked https://www.turn2us.org.uk to make sure you are getting LHA/housing benefit and or CTB if you are entitled? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I didn't even think about the bank taking the money to pay the card as i am with the same bank as the card (halifax).Il change my account asap. Im currently back at home with my parents which makes life easier debt wise. I just feel like a right prat for getting myself into this situation.0
