            hello all...
I'm currently waiting to hear back from nasty OR after disputing my IVA...it has now been refered to line manager for them to review. Been over a week now though! Everything up in the air until i hear back.
Had a nasty letter from Natwest demandng that i return solo card and account will be closed in 14 days...I opened this just before going bankrupt and spoke twice on the phone to them about my situation and was told all would be OK...Not happy - They kept me on the phone for an hour today when i questioned it all...only to tell me that there was nothing they could do for me and my account will still be terminated in 14days (which happens to be my payday!!).
So wil have to go open another, sharpish! Probably try nationwide first.
Always wondered why they call me lucky...!0

:rotfl: I don't understand this as they can stick needles in me all day, and I won't be bothered.
Seriously, with all that, well done for getting as far as you have. Once you have gone BR the sudden lifting of a psychological weight is amazing. Things will still not be perfect, but you feel as if you are at a beginning rather than at your wits end, if that makes any sense.
 Oh I hope so!!!0

Yep. A lot of the 'big banks' have a policy to automatically close the accounts of BR's, despite any assurances to the contrary.
Nationwide are good (Flex account), and so are the Co-operative Bank (Cashminder account).Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

You'll probably think I'm a nutter but this is my contribution....
Once upon a time there was a young woman, naïve, but full of hope for the future. Then she found herself with her first debt, unplanned, but fortunately it was small and manageable. However, it wasn't long before this debt was soon joined by debt number two. For a while she was able to tend to these first two satisfactorily, but then things took a turn for the worse and debt number three arrived, followed in quick succession by number four.
The debts grew at an alarming rate, from just a few hundred pounds to several thousand. The woman tried her best to stop the debts increasing but no sooner had she sorted one out than the others would immediately demand her attention. She tried ignoring them; shouting at them, even shed the odd tear over them, and as a last resort bribed them with 0% offers. But no matter what she did the debts were never satisfied. Finally, when she knew couldn't cope with them any longer she went to seek professional help. The diagnosis was grim - the debts were totally out of control and nothing could be done to restrain them. The debts had to go.
Now, the not quite so young woman is still getting used to not having the debts hanging around. There's an empty space on the desk where all their stuff used to accumulate (they were very untidy), and the house is quieter because the phone calls the debts used to receive have stopped.
If she could turn back the clock the woman would never have had them in the first place, and this whole sorry tale would never have happened. But she's older and wiser now and knows that she will never ever have debts again. 0 0

I went bankrupt on the 21st March 2007 and had my meeting with the OR on the 4th May but have heard nothing - I understand my ex has received a letter from the OR asking what equity was left in the property when I left as I never received a penny.
I was under the impression that I was going to have to pay £50 per month as the OR got me to sign some form of paper whilst I was at the meeting and he also said I would get a Nil tax code but have heard nothing.
I am living on my nerves each day wondering what is going on and when are they going to get in touch with me.
It appears that some of the creditors were informed but not all as I am still being harrassed by telephone calls.
I am so afraid to ring or contact the OR because I just do not know what I am supposed to do - I worry about how much money they will ask for when they do decide how much I have to pay and just hope I have enough put to one side and also I do not understand the tax situation - how much do I put to one side for this?
As you can guess by my response I am a nervous wreck just waiting waiting waiting!!!!!!
This forum really keeps me sane the responses and help is fantastic0

I know just how you feel:eek:. I'm such a paranoid dithery person. Had my OR interview 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard a thing. And like you say, it's the waiting and wondering, it's doing my head in. :wall:
Keeping my fingers crossed it'll all be alright for you...please keep us posted won't you?0

thanks I will keep you posted when I eventually hear from them - just hope everything goes ok for you to0

I'm just preparing myself for my CCCS & CAB interviews. my SOA shows very clearly to me that bankruptcy is my way forward - there is nothing to offer by way of an IVA and day by day I'm becoming more reconciled to the fact.
If I'm asked when I started to get into problems, or what caused it, that's going to be a tricky one. Was it when HMRC overpaid our tax credits and then made us pay them back? Was it when I was pregnant and buying for the baby? Was it the cut in salary when I went back to work only part time initially? Maybe the extreme cost of childcare? Or when we had to move house twice in 6 months, and pay extra large deposits because of having a dog. And I know for sure the icing on the cake came when I tried to support my hubby start his own (very unsuccessful!) business!0
