Can any employee of these please confirm EXACTLY when defaults are removed from your file.
I know they stay on for 6 years.
Is it 6 years and one day, or a week,or a month?
My reason is that we are waiting for one that is 6 years old on the 3rd march 2013 to drop off and we have a mortgage appointment booked for the following week.
I know they will do a credit check and I have our reports that we paid £2 for last week here in front of me and everything is great apart from that.
I have hunted online and looked at various forums all over the net but as yet cannot get a confirmed answer, people just guess and assume.
We dont want to go through the heart ache of a refusal again like what happened 12 months ago, as that was why we got reports then to see why we were rejected.
One year on and we feel we have covered all bases now but the final answer has eluded us, so if any employee can put our mind at rest or do we cancel the appointment till we know for sure.

I am not an employee of any but
Experian disappear exactly after 6 years. A default of 3 March 2007 will no longer show on 4 March 2013.
Equifax frequently seem to stay on file for around 2weeks after that date.
No idea about callcredit.
I'd perhaps consider putting your appointment back by another week and doing another check of your files the day before the appointment so that you can check for certain that they are gone.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Thanks, for taking the time to reply.
Its actually Experian we need to be accurate as its Nationwide we are seeing and I believe thats who they use.0 -
Just applied for the credit report today, so hopefully by the time they process this it will be Monday.
If the report is generated on Monday like we think and if Tixy is correct, then the default hopefully will be gone.
I will sleep better if this is the case.
Then our Nationwide mortgage app credit check 10 days from today should be ok.
Fingers crossed..0 -
We are still waiting for the Experian report pin to pop in our letter box, so much for the within 3 working days nonsence they put on there email.
We chased it up yesterday morning at 8am by phone before heading to our 10am nationwide app.
The chap on the phone stated it was posted last wednesday 1st class(yeh right),but did confirm default drops off automatically, so felt a wee bit better.
So as a precaution we quickly double checked Equifax by paying another £2 (as they did assure us over a week ago it drops off in 7 days). Guess what its still there. Devasted, so we phoned them as well, ranting that this may stop our chances, the American lady said it takes another 7 -10 days to drop off, she really couldn`t care less i thought, so no time left off to Nationwide we go.
We arrived at 9.50am both of us really shaking and nervous. We quickly explained our story to our lady Mortgage Advisor who seemed to be on our side. We went through all the questions and came to the proceed button, our MA said she didnt want to push the button as she felt for us, she even turned the screen so we could all see it.
ACCEPT with a big green tick.
My wife burst into tears, and so did I, when we looked at the MA she was crying too, it was an amazing moment. So we have the DIP which is valid for 3 months so need to do the full app within that time and get another 6 months once thats done for the builders to start the house.
So today we are off to check out how much various solicitors are charging for their work on buying a new build and tomorrow we meet up with the builders to confirm our interest as we have kept them updated all along the way and they have been great.
So we are walking on air just now but trying to keep our feet on the ground as now the hard work starts.0 -
Sometimes it will take to your next report until the default drops off on your copy but anyone searching your file will not see it, this happened with an o2 account of mine which was settled early January but wasn't until my next available report it was shown as settled but I was given assurances and a screenshot it was settled on Experian.
Glad you got what you wanted"All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, the point is to discover them."

Just checked the Experian report as the pin code has finally arrived.
Even though the default was supposed to be removed on the 6th anniversary so they kept telling us (3/3/07) it was still showing on the report, which was generated 5/3/13.
So why do Experian insist on stating that the defaults are removed automatically when they clearly are not.
Lucky for us it didnt impact on our mortgage app,but it may have..0
