ASDA's by weight when ordering online?

I've discovered ASDA does deliver to us and there are a few things ASDA sells that Sains and Tesco don't, they also appear cheaper on a fair few staples, so I was going to give them a go. Now the confusing bit is when I'm looking at fresh meat/fish/veg etc. Quite a few items are stated as per weight 100g and you add the number of 100g amounts you want, this is different from the other supermarkets for products like this, whole chickens for example. So for example I can add a whole chicken from ASDA to my basket, but it'll add 100g of it for say 39p. I could add 200g gram for 78p, 800g, 1.2kg, some default at 1kg but odds are a large whole chicken is going to be more like 1.7-2kg etc. It seems like I could theoretically checkout with say 200g of whole chicken, However clearly they're not going to be able to send me a 200g chicken, so how are you meant to know what weight to actually purchase? ASDA's butchers selection free range whole chicken for example..it doesn't say what it's whole weight is, just lets me buy it in increments of 100g...it's rather confusing. :o

On the product pages It just says "please note the price is by weight, you will pay based on the weight of the item delivered.". Just seems to make it quite hard to work out what something is actually going to cost? As the price you see when you checkout may change considerably depending on the size of the whole joints/chickens they have at the time, which you're not going to know until they take the money from your card I assume? So for example lets say I assume a chicken is 1.3kg and so add it 13 increments of 100g, if it turns out all they have of that product is a 1.7kg bird, I'll pay more than I realised at the time of tallying up my spend?

Hopefully this makes some sort of sense haha.

The price of everything is as on the day it is picked and scanned, anything out of stock with no subs you won't be charged for, anything by weight is somewhat variable but it should really be more than a few pounds off.

As you say some fresh meat is a bit of a gamble, I ordered the smallest amount of corn fed chicken legs last time (1kg) but got two legs (400g) so they should really have sent a second pack. I'd have been miffed if cooking for a family of four! With a whole bird they are obviously going to have to try to get as close as possible whilst still considering the expiry dates.

If you get something that is in some way not what you asked for or expected there is a simple system of logging in clicking a few buttons and you get a no quibble refund. I get free tenderstem broccoli because I order purple sprouting and it's wrong every single time. Have also had refunds on short dated items, tho I have missed a few. If you buy a lot of fresh stuff and check everything carefully you can end up with a couple of free items which makes up for anything else that is a little more expensive than you expected.

You can also send anything back on the day and he scans to refund there and then, I always check the substitutions and send stuff back but I obviously don't check every other item. So AFAIK you could send the chicken back if it's wildly off on size.

On my last order I asked for 2kg of cheddar cheese from the deli counter (was planning on bulk making sandwiches for DD's lunch, home made pizza etc and it was cheapest option) and they sent me 200g  I had to postpone my plans until I could get to the store and buy the cheapest cheese there. I was not impressed as the whole point of getting the delivery was so that I would avoid the store.

I'm ordering that chicken this week, I've gone for a fairly standard size chicken for our family of 3 at 1.3kg for £4.39 I think?! They are supposed to get as close as possible but I have had problems in the past so try to avoid by weight items, but shopping with Asda its a bit difficult to do that. I usually have no fuss when I want a refund and I feel they have been unfair etc. One time I've order something at say 1kg but the closest they could offer was 2.5kg making it 150% more expensive, thats ridiculous to me, customer service agreed and gave me a full refund and good will gesture. They are normally pretty good if you feel anything is unfair especially regarding overcharging and poor quality.
