GHD's - where to buy?

I want to get some GHD's, just the basic ones, I don't need any fancy limited editions. I've been thinking about it for a long time and had some money for my birthday/Christmas. I've also got a friend who isn't using hers at the moment so has said I can borrow them to make sure I like them before I buy any.
Amazon have got them for £79 which seems to be a good price, and also I have got £30 credit on Amazon because I cashed in some nectar points at Christmas, not realising I couldn't use them to buy gift vouchers.
However, I mentioned it to a friend last night who is a hairdresser, and she said she's heard on the TV about a lot of places selling fake GHD's online. She was quite adamant it was a bad idea to buy them online. She is going to get me a trade price, but I just wondered if anyone else had heard of this or if she's overreacting to an out of proportion news story? I can't really afford to buy them without the £30 Amazon credit, even if she can match the price.
I know other people who have bought GHD's from Amazon without any problems, and I would only buy from Amazon itself, not from anyone selling through them.
Has anyone got any experience of fake GHD's bought online?

Purchasing them online from a verified retailer (you can check this on the GHD website) is perfectly fine. Your friend is somewhat over-reacting, but there are a lot of fakes out there so I understand her concern. Amazon are verified, so as long as you purchase from Amazon itself (as you plan to do) you will be fine.
ETA: Just make sure it's definitely sold by, not just fulfilled by as they offer shipping services to third party sellers.0 -
Thank you. Good to know Amazon are a verified seller, I didn't know they did that. I think I will still buy from there.0

You could buy them from the ghd website, and I doubt reputable retailers will be selling fakes. particularly retailers like Amazon0
