Gambling Therapy (Click here)
Hi,
Stumbled upon the above UK site (via a link from PayPlan), based in the Midlands, who offer a variety of online services for anyone with problematic gambling.
They are part of the Gordon Moody Association, an agency who provide therapeutic support to problem gamblers and those affected by problem gambling, through residential, online and outreach services.
Given that I have read a few DFW threads where gambling had been identified by the OP as an issue that neeed to be addressed, I thought I should post the link.
Some other resources:
If anyone else has details of any other support groups or treatment available, please could you also post details.

Another resource:
Royal College of Psychiatrists - Leaflet on Gambling Problems
I've added this link as evidence indicates that the 'rush' from gambling is used by some people to mitigate the symptoms of undiagnosed anxiety, depression or bipolar disorders.
Research has shown that Cognitive Behaviour Therapy can:- reduce the number of days a person gambles
- reduce the amount of money they lose
- help a gambler to stay away from gambling once they have stopped.

If Cognitive Behaviour Therapy can be improved to the point that it will increase the amount you win, I am all in favour of it. :money:Willing2Learn wrote: »

You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
The Counselling Directory has a search tool to find a counsellor or psychotherapy to treat a patient with a gambling addiction.
Here is the link for their main Gambling Addiction page.
Most of the services are private fee-charging services (not NHS), but if you read the profile for each counsellor some of them do offer concessionary rates. I've had patients/service users negotiate token payments and occasionally they have had sessions for free!
