Hi Myrtle, that's OK, I'm still pretty much learning the ropes on here so you're probably right. Though extenuating subject and all that.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Jeez! I feel like I've opened a bit of a can of worms today! First post, and all this controversy already! I'm almost smiling to myself! You guys are great! As I said before, I am pretty savved up, I know an 'independant' mortgage broker/adviser is not going to solve all my problems, and would think twice before indulging in any such dramatic advice. I hope others are so cautious. On saying that, I appreciate ALL of your comments. I have read them all, and taken them all on board. I am working on my SOA, but I'm a bit confused on my secured loan. I had to work until 10pm this everning, so now is not the time to explain I don't think, but I will definately post under 'SadGirls's SOA tomorrow, and see what you guys think of it.

TBH SadGirl, that mortgage rate must be horrendous or you took it over a very short term. I pay £414 a month for a £40k mortgage over a 10 year period and my rate isn't the best as I'm only 3 years out of bankruptcy.
If you've taken it over a short term, increasing the repayment term will knock £100's off and you can always remortgage to a shorter term later on.
As for losing the house if you bank, you won't unless there's a lot of equity in it after both the mortgage and secured loan are taken off. You can have a car too as long as it's not too expensive.0 -
I think I got it a bit wrong
Sorry. I'm working on my SOA now. I'm just waiting for my finance company to get back to me with some figures. My mortgage had a top up some 3-4 years ago, it's actually £60k at £440 a month at 5.9%. Does that sound better?
