Bargain DVD's?

Hi everyone,

Next week I've booked some time off work and I'm planning to have a movie marathon. Trying to save money and stop going out and wasting money on food, cinema etc...

Was wondering if anyone has some recommendations or links to cheap DVD websites? I know CEX and Amazon do some cheap but I can't find any decent ones. I'm not after current films, just a range of decent ones under £3. Not fussed if second hand.

Thanks :)! x

Libraries hire out DVD, you can normally hire these for longer than the likes of Blockbusters, etc., or try freecycle or charity shops.

You could also be a tart to get them for free.

This page has a selection of free dvd rental trials though do bear in mind, it hasn't been updated since 2004.
  • Zavvi & Play.com have awesome Monday deals going on. They have free deliverires and massive price crash. Try them

Does it have to be physical DVDs? If you want to stream them online, you could try Blinkbox, which doesn't need a subscription (and on Mondays they do a 99p offer on a selection of films).
  • I've always found find-dvd.co.uk to be a good website to find the best price for DVDs (although ebay or CEX may be better if you're ok with second hand dvds)
  • If you are planning a marathon perhaps you should consider some online streaming service? Then you could watch as many films as you wanted for 5 or 6 pounds a month. Would probably work out cheaper than buying loads of DVDs, even if they were £3 each.
  • Have a look at the Watch movies online Cheap & free guide if you're thinking of signing up to an online streaming service.

If anyone is after new DVD's, don't forget to check the MegaShopBot.

Have you had a look in Morrisons? Our local one has got quite a large display of dvds from £2, although obviously not the most recent.

And have you thought about tv box sets - they can be good value for the number of hours viewing. We are a bit late to the party, but we have just bought a box set of the first series of The Killing, so 20 hours viewing for £20 is great value if you like that kind of thing!
